TWO FLINTS X VERDANT EARLY PICK NELSON 7% DDH WC IPA x @verdantbrew LATE PICK NELSON 7% DDH HAZY IPA x @verdantbrew It’s launch week 🚀 Thank you to all the wonderful pubs, bars and bottle shops who will be helping launch this very special release this week. We will be sharing where you can get your mitts on this wonderful collab shortly! A bit about the colloboration with our idols and very good friends @verdantbrew “The aim of this series is a dive deep into the impact of terroir and harvest timing, focusing on this year’s 12 day harvest window which took place between March 12th and 24th. We’ve used two distinct lots of Nelson Sauvin from two iconic New Zealand hop farms to showcase the hop’s full flavour spectrum. The result is two unique beers that tell the complete story of one incredible harvest.” EARLY PICK NELSON - 7% DDH WEST COAST IPA A modern West Coast IPA highlighting Nelson from the very start of the harvest. Brewed with hops from the historic, sixth-generation family farm at @eggershops (Lot EH25-027J-NSN), this beer is all about precision and clarity. We’re tasting notes of tropical fruit, feijoa, and bright citrus, with a hint of durian. LATE PICK NELSON - 7% DDH HAZY IPA This Hazy IPA is a showcase of Nelson from the final days of the harvest. Brewed with hops from @freestylehops (Lot SV25-26KL-NSN), who are masters of their craft, this beer highlights the lush, later-pick character. Expect a rich and vibrant profile with notes of sweet tropical fruit, balanced by pink grapefruit and a delicate cannabis finish. Some drawings deserve a second chance on the feed. Hairy Dog • Moleskine Drawing I posted a quick phone snap of this hairy dog study a while back, but I was always a little disappointed that it failed to capture the details. After my recent breakthrough with a new scanner, I knew I had to reshare it in its truest form. This piece was a real challenge for me. I started it before a drawing workshop in Seville and finished it right after, trying to pour in newly learned techniques for capturing that mix of softness, blur, and sharp texture in the fur. Hope you enjoy this second look! 🐶

This feels like a big day, and a bit of a vulnerable post. Bloom • Moleskine drawing For the longest time, I've had a secret frustration: a constant battle with sharing my pencil drawings online. No matter what I tried, the digital versions always felt like a ghost of the real thing—the subtle textures, soft values, and delicate pencil marks that, to me, are the soul of the work, were always lost. It was so disappointing that I often just didn't share them at all. That changed this week. After investing in a new scanner, I'm not exaggerating when I say I shed a couple of tears when I saw the first scan come through. For the first time, I feel I can share my work in its truest form—allowing you to see it exactly as I see it on the paper in front of me. It's a deeply rewarding feeling and another small but significant step on my own creative journey. So, with that said, I'm incredibly proud to properly share 'Bloom,' a pair of drawings that are very special to me. I'd love to know what you think. ♥️

A little digital sketchbook experiment, chasing that elusive energy. ✨ This was a session in Procreate taking the pencil and charcoal brushes for a spin. I was trying to solve a specific problem I often face: how to capture both soft, subtle marks and hard, energetic lines in the same piece. It’s a balance I'm always chasing in my traditional drawings, and the digital canvas is the perfect playground for that kind of practice. Feels like another good step, not convinced by the portrait, but hey it's all just practice. Does anyone else find it a challenge to keep that raw energy in a finished drawing? I'd love to hear your thoughts. #DigitalArt #Procreate #IllustrationProcess #Sketchbook #DrawingPractice #DigitalPencil #CharcoalDrawing #ArtProcess #CreativeExploration #LondonArtist #MadeByMatty

Some projects just hit different. This illustrated poster for my friends at @pillarsbrewery was one of them. It started as a simple idea with co-founder Samie: a timeless, nostalgic pub poster as a gift for their best clients. But every so often, a brief comes along that awakens your creative appetite and demands you produce your very best work, no compromise. This was that project. After sharing the initial sketches (swipe to see!), I promised Samie I was going to go a bit overboard. The drawing was straightforward, but capturing the life in the painted glass and reflections was a real challenge. After a few attempts, it finally came together. My goal was for the image to feel loved—beautifully detailed from afar, but up close, you’re rewarded with the initial pencil strokes and marks that I intentionally left in place. I wanted it to feel crafted with the same precision and care that Pillars is so widely known for. The best part? The response has been so incredible that what started as a gift is now becoming a city-wide street poster campaign. I'm so proud of how this turned out and can't wait to see it out in the world. Check out the full case study on my website (link in bio!). #creativeprocess #posterart #pillarsbrewery #craftbeerbranding #illustrationprocess #madebymatty

Dog (study) • Pencil on paper A drawing I started just before my Seville drawing workshop, which I continued to chip away at with my newly learnt skills. Figuring out softness and a mixture of blur and texture, which makes my phone camera cry when trying to get an accurate image of this drawing. It still doesn't do it justice, so if anyone has any tips please help! Anyways it was a lot of fun, I love dogs and I love drawing so, happy days. #doglover On to the next one!

At last! A post, and a sketchbook post no less. Feeling very creatively nourished after my workshop in Seville with the pencil master @feral_kid whose work I've admired since I was in design school (eons ago). A truly incredible experience to not only learn from the best but to be surrounded by such immensely talented and friendly classmates. This page of my sketchbook has been a work in progress for a while, but with some new materials and some new techniques to perfect (particularly the left page) it's reached a happy place for me. I'm having fun playing with contrast of light and dark as well as loose and detailed, and texture and smoothness. More experiments are happening. I'll post some more about my trip soon. (I hope)

🎃 Happy Halloween!! 🎃 First proper drawing on the iPad, a perfect drink and draw medium. Really getting the hang of it now, feels like my moleskin. Got the settings dialed so I'm very excited to crack on and draw more. #halloween #drawing #madebymatty

So hyped to finally share this one! Second image in a series of Single Artworks for my good friends @ashlambeandthe3220s I had a lot of fun with this one and really tried to push myself, Jeff the snake was a challenge but really the typography design took the longest. I struggled to make it feel cohesive with the image, that is until I added the green across the top. The green represents the toxicity of the relationship between the two as the song is about a relationship that isn't particularly healthy. Ah, how a little toxic green can bring an image together. Hopefully you enjoy it, and please go check out the song on Spotify!! Looking forward to the next one and the complete Album cover which is gonna be sick!! ... #ashlambeandthe3220s #getgone #albumart #musicart #illustration #illustrationart #truegrittexturesupply #illustrationartists #ink #vintage #art #music #instaart #artistoninstagram #adobe #adobephotoshop #xppen #art #comicstyle #comics #drawoninstagram #albumcoverdesign #albumcover #halftone

One of my favourite little characters I've drawn 🐻 If the Double IPA has the Big Bear, then the Session Pale Ale needs a Bear Cub in need of something juuuuuust right! I've also included a little process in this one as well to see how it went from sketch to final; it looks so simple when it's in just a couple of images, ha! Fellow artists know this ain't true.  #artist #artoftheday #cartoonportrait #sketchytank #drawingstuff #papersketch #sketchartists #drawingcartoons #quick_sketch #drawoninstagram #drawinginmystyle #artdrawing #retrovibes #illustragram #illustrationow #drawingdaily #artoftheday #illustrationdrawing  #characterdesign #craftbeerart #craftbeer #beerartwork

💦 Feel it in the Liquid Afterglow 💦 Throwback to this illustration I made for @brewdogpaddington & Old Street Brewery for Collabfest 2022. A lot of fun working with Head Brewer @joshbill22 as he came up with a spectacular Triple Fruited Sour, full of Lychee, Cherry and Pink Guava. After discussing the flavours with me I imagined how it would feel to bathe in such an insane amount of fruit. Which sprung to mind the image, all I needed was a name to go with it. Many scratchings later, Liguid Afterglow sprung from the aether! Of course it needed a custom ripple treatment and hey presto! A little illustration fit for a beer tap badge. Huge thanks to the team at Brewdog Paddington for being absolute legends and treating myself and Josh to some tasty beers when Liquid Afterglow launched! #brewdog #brewdogpaddington #triplefruitedsour #craftbeer #collabfest2022 #oldstreetbrewery #craftbeer #londoncraftbeer #comics #vintagebooks #comicon #vintageart #vintagelovers #musicforlife #musicart #comicbookartist #comicstrips #comicstyle #comicsart #vintageretro #comicbookfiendclub #comicbooksociety #vintagecartoons #musiclegends #artworkinstudio #artworkoninstagram #comiccommunity

She got eyes of hazel 🎶 Really excited to share this one. @ashlambeandthe3220s asked me to create a little something for the launch of their new single 'Hazel Eyes'. As a big fan of the band this was a super fun commission. Eyes are always super fun to draw and after a recent visit to the Comic Museum in Brussels I was crazy inspired to work on this one. Hope you all like it!!
