Transform 1012 is reimagining a former Ku Klux Klan auditorium in Fort Worth, TX, as The Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Community Healing—turning a monument to hate into a beacon of truth-telling, reparative justice, and liberation. Founded by eight grassroots organizations and joined by the Fred Rouse Foundation in 2022, our coalition brings together leaders in the arts, social justice, and design. Together we are building a vibrant cultural hub that honors the life of Mr. Fred Rouse, a Black father lynched in Fort Worth in 1921, while returning resources to the communities once targeted by the KKK. The Fred Rouse Center will house arts and social justice organizations, youth programs, mutual aid spaces, and more—intentionally designed to uplift, inspire, and serve. Pre-construction is underway now, with doors opening in 2027. Support our mission: follow the link in bio to donate or volunteer. #FlashbackFriday to a new generation taking the reins! Did you know #Transform1012 has an incredibly inspiring Youth Council? We’re taking a trip down memory lane to this amazing moment with these future leaders. They are the architects of their own future, standing strong against the raw history of the Fred Rouse Building. This group brings the energy, the vision, and the commitment to ensure that the Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Community Healing isn’t just built for the future, but by the people who will live in it. Their voices are transforming these walls. We can’t wait to see what they build next. Photo Credit: Ken Sparks #TransformationTuesday #1012YouthCouncil #FortWorth #YouthEmpowerment #Transform1012

We are honored to stand alongside Roman Ramirez, Co-Founder of SOL Ballet Folklorico, as we continue the journey of reclaiming 1012 N. Main Street. Partnership is the heartbeat of Transform 1012. When cultural leaders like Roman join the mission, they bring more than just support—they bring the rhythm, the art, and the history of our community. Together, we are ensuring that the Fred Rouse Center becomes a home for the very vibrant cultures that were once excluded from these grounds. Transformation isn't a solo act; it’s a collective movement to rewrite the narrative of Fort Worth. #Transform1012 #PartnerHighlight #SOLBalletFolklorico #FortWorthArts #HealingThroughArt

For this #TransformationTuesday, we’re looking back at a powerful site tour with the TCU Silver Frogs. There is a unique kind of magic that happens when lifelong learners step into a space as storied as the building at 1012 N. Main Street. As we walked through the raw, sun-drenched halls, we didn't just see old brick and graffiti—we shared a vision for the future Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Community Healing. Transformation requires both the energy of the youth and the wisdom of our seasoned community members. By bridging history with innovation, we are ensuring that the story of Transform 1012 is one of reclamation and hope for every generation in Fort Worth. #Transform1012 #SilverFrogs #FortWorthHistory #CommunityRevitalization #BuildingLegacy

For #flashbackfriday , we're taking a look back to 2021—a pivotal moment in our journey. In this photo, we're celebrating our selection as a 2021 ULI IMPACT Awards Winner for 'The Next Big Idea.' This recognition by Urban Land Institute Dallas-Fort Worth validated our ambitious goal: to acquire the former KKK auditorium at 1012 N. Main Street and transform it from a monument of hate into the Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Community Healing. We look at this award with pride and as a reminder of the initial community belief in this vision. We are committed to realizing that 'Next Big Idea' of turning a deep historical wound into a tangible symbol of inclusion, healing, and arts for Fort Worth. #flashbackfriday #transform1012 #fredrousecenter #uliimpactawards #communityreclamation

For #TransformationTuesday, we’re sharing a glimpse of the work in progress at 1012 N. Main Street. We often look at the bricks and mortar of this structure, but the real transformation is happening right in the center of the circle. This gathering against the backdrop of the former KKK auditorium isn't accidental. By meeting here, Transform 1012 is actively reclaiming this space from its exclusionary past. We are listening, building trust, and together, designing the Fred Rouse Center for Arts and Community Healing. Healing this wound in our city starts with showing up and doing the work. True transformation starts at the community level. Freddy Cantú highlights the power of collective vision — where residents, survivors, artists, and local organizations come together to shape something greater than any one perspective. “If residents, survivors, artists, and local organizations shape the vision together, the project could demonstrate how grassroots leadership can reclaim spaces and redefine them. Other communities facing tragedy or neglected properties might look to it as a blueprint.” This work is about reclaiming spaces, redefining their meaning, and demonstrating what’s possible when leadership is rooted in the community itself. Because lasting impact is built from the ground up. #PartnerHighlight #CommunityLeadership #Transform1012 #Grassroots #CommunityImpact
