Charles Gadeken is an industrial artist working in the Bay Area for over 25 years. Inspired by the objects, structures and processes in the world around us, Charlesβ art depicts natural objects in fantastic ways and realizes the potential for serendipity in everyday life. Often incorporating and developing technology for various effects β LEDs, flame, hydraulics, and electricity β to increase the visual and physical impact of his work, he seeks to instill a sense of play into the environment. Ever curious, Charles takes the forms of things we tend to overlook and remakes them as magical objects that exist as portals to our collective consciousness.

ILUMINA is an interactive light and sound sculpture powered by the participants' collective heart, energy and flow state of the participants. During the experience, participants engage in a three-minute breath exercise that ushers them into a state of coherence, or deep harmony with themselves, fellow participants, and the universe. The sensors provided by the HearthMath Institute measure individual heart rhythms to determine the collective state of coherence which in turn activates the sculptureβs stunning light-show and soundscape.
The deeper the state of collective coherence of the group, the brighter ILUMINA shines, as the sculpture responds to the groupβs coherence level via 12 different stages of light and music. ILUMINA embodies art, light, music, interactivity, community, consciousness, oneness and spirituality.
