Earlier this month,
@skatenottingham &
@grownotts teamed up for an afternoon of skateboarding and workshops at Nottingham’s city centre skate space,
@tramlinespot !
With Skate Nottingham’s team of qualified skate coaches, participants got on skateboards for the first time, or progressed their tricks if they’d already been learning. With Grow Notts, they made planters out of old skateboards, and planted a range of edible herbs.
Some care & repair of the space was undertaken, including sweeping and litter picking with
@sneinton.swag , and fixing up the worn gaps in between the ledges. A filming workshop gave young people a chance to learn about capturing skateboarding, and to improve their digital skillset with guidance from an experienced filmmaker.
Tram Line Spot on Nottingham’s Sussex Street is a landmark, multi-use space, that is an asset to the city. If left unused, it could become an unpleasant spot, but if supported, maintained, and activated, it can bring liveliness, fun, learning, culture, and an improved sense of safety on this main thoroughfare through the city.
This event was kindly funded by
@itsinnottingham and
@mindera_uk . Thanks to
@mynottingham and
@sneinton.swag for their support!
With thanks to participants and their parents for consent to be featured. Film by
@tomquigley . Additional filming by
@fredabbo_ .
