For the exhibition „Leftovers“ 4 artists (@nelly_akane @rebeka_akane @goko_yang @trambahn ) currently living in East Germany and shaped by the second generation Asian diaspora engage with physical residues of migration and preservation of culture. Their works trace overlaps of living in between counties, fragmented belonging, and inherited memories. At the opening, visitors are invited to ferment leftovers together with the artists. At the finissage, the pickles are shared and eaten. Leftovers unfolds as an ongoing process, never fully complete, we aim to create memories and conversation. cuuute <3 Tràmi Nguyễn @trambahn 💖 Through ceramics, installation, and moving image, Tràmi Nguyễn develops spatial constellations that weave together memory, material culture, and diasporic experience. Her practice draws on personal and collective histories, where objects become carriers of memory and translation. Through subtle shifts in form and arrangement, she constructs environments in which identity is not fixed but continuously negotiated, unfolding across generations and geographies. In cuuute <3, these concerns take shape in an installation that brings together ceramic work and everyday objects, forming a fragile yet deliberate composition. Familiar forms are recontextualized, creating a space that feels both intimate and constructed. What emerges is not a singular narrative, but a layered field where memory surfaces in fragments and associations remain fluid. The work gestures toward what Tràmi Nguyễn describes as a “third space,” a site where past and present intersect and belonging is continuously reimagined. On view until May 28 💘 cuuute <3

on view 💖✨cuuute <3 Glossy surfaces, soft forms and pastel bodies exert an immediate pull. They engage not only the eye but the entire field of perception, evoking a desire to come closer, to touch, to test the materiality. Somewhere between toy and candy, familiar yet strange, the objects by @trambahn @symbiogenicstuff and @janina.totzauer resist clear classification even upon closer inspection. In this shift, the seemingly innocent begins to tip. Beneath smooth glazes, creamy hues, and soft biomorphic forms, structures emerge that point to processes of production, attribution, and availability. The exhibition cuuute <3 takes up this ambivalence. Drawing on digital image culture, where affect condenses into brief, overstated expressions and enthusiasm, irony, and distance often coexist within a single gesture, cuteness operates as a cultural code. No longer merely ornamental, cuteness emerges here as a critical strategy, taking on distinct forms within each artistic practice. In Lorena Rode’s @symbiogenicstuff work, soft, organic forms intertwine with instruments of artificial reproduction, forming bodies that oscillate between seduction and excess. What appears playful reveals underlying structures of control, where fertility, availability, and productivity become inscribed into the body. Janina Totzauer @janina.totzauer develops a visual language of estrangement, presenting fragmented, vacuum-sealed forms alongside worm-like bodies that oscillate between exposure and withdrawal. Her works evoke presences that resist clear attribution, raising questions of belonging and the conditions under which difference is produced and perceived. In Tràmi Nguyễn’s @trambahn installation, memory and cultural identity take shape through layered fragments of personal and collective histories. Familiar materials become carriers of shifting meanings, forming a space in which belonging remains fluid and continuously renegotiated. On view until May 28 🍬 cuuute <3

The works reveal processes that are otherwise elusive: bodies that are produced and regulated, memories that cannot be fixed, and forms that resist unambiguous categorization. What appears soft and accessible proves to be complex and contradictory. Here, cuteness functions not as a soothing element but as a point of friction. In digital imagery, design, and consumer culture, it operates as a strategy of seduction and emotional pull. At the same time, it has emerged as a critical category within arts across media and disciplines. Cuteness can protect and co-opt, attract and repel. It creates intimacy while holding distance. In this context, the exhibition cuuute <3 approaches cuteness not as escapism, but as a tactic. Ceramics become the medium through which these contradictions take shape. Fragile and durable, bodily and distant, traditional and malleable. Historically tied to domesticity and care, the material shifts here into a surface onto which questions of identity, belonging, and the body are projected. The works by @trambahn @symbiogenicstuff and @janina.totzauer move precisely within this tension. Glossy surfaces and soft forms invite closeness, while beneath them questions of memory, hybridity, and reproduction emerge. What appears playful or comforting begins to shift, revealing structures of control, visibility and transformation. Within this friction the works unfold their critical potential.
