Today, I’m delighted to share with you passages from a screendance I’m creating called, “Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most” – inspired by Betty Carter’s performance of that song (check it out, it de-bones). I’m creating the musical and soundscore along the with screendance – in this excerpt you will hear, in order of appearance – a beat from Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House, Zway (Canada Goose), Deshakan Ziibi, me singing The Gambler by Kenny Rogers, Aen Nayzoo (Red Winged Blackbird), thunder, rain, wind, under the thunder a snippet of Billie Holiday singing All of Me, more of Don’t Dream It’s Over by Crowded House, and under kitchen sounds a bit of Space Age Love Song by Flock of Seagulls, with incidental/environment sounds throughout. As I begin to wrap up my PhD with Critical Studies in Improvisation (IMPR at University of Guelph) I am happy to synthesize my findings into larger projects!
