Heading home from a wonderful 2 days in upstate New York where I met with mayors from across the state at the @nymayors annual conference. I LOVED meeting with these wonderful people — dedicated public servants who are leading their cities and villages in very difficult times.
A bonus for me was bringing Aaron along! He doesn’t often get to travel with me so it’s always fun when he does. We took the scenic route back to Albany, via Ft. Ticonderoga. Love the history. Love the beauty of this area. Love the people!
Ever since I was a young girl, I dreamed of being a mother. That desire was shaped by watching my mom nurture her own family and care for neighbors and extended family. My mom married young in order to join my dad in his military assignment in Germany, and together they raised 7 kids, including 2 sets of twins. (Sainthood!)
My parents both valued education, music, family time, and faith, and our home reflected that. It was my mom who ensured I kept up on piano and school lessons; who volunteered in my school and helped lead our Campfire girls. I watched as she patiently waited for the chance to finally complete her own college degree at 50. She was beaming!
Today and always I feel her watching over me as I try to follow her example of a loving (and laughing and singing and supportive) mother to my own kids and grandkids. I couldn’t be more blessed!
Background music: our family singing “Love at Home” together ❤️🎶 We first learned the song about 20 years ago, when our kids were finally old enough to sing 4-part harmony with us, and it’s been part of our family ever since.
We’re all on the same team, and we all want the same thing: strong families, caring communities, and the chance to serve, to solve problems, and to build something better together. Dignity is what makes that possible. @tpyfer

There is an urgent new issue in our country that’s almost as important to them as the cost of living: how we treat each other. To start making a difference, we don’t need a majority. We don’t even need millions. We just need a trend. Join us in this movement.
