I had the most wonderful time as Music Director for @scherzoensembleuk giving a weekend workshop for Opera in Practice alongside the brilliant Maria Struckova and Director @bobbiejeanhenning . It's amazing what these young singers and pianists achieved in only 3 days!

Just back from a whirlwind debut in Changsha, China. Amazing music, new friends made and the opportunities to explore this rich and diverse culture all made possible by my friend and assistant extraordinaire @everettsuo ! The chance to talk about opera to over 4000 people, to give a concert to over 7000 and to share the stage with all these wonderful artists was an experience I'll never forget. Visiting the old city of JingGang, being introduced to puppeteering and the mystical face-changing technique was extremely special and even being personally sung a Hunanese song with typically spicy elements by two now dear friends! So many wonderful artists and such amazing love felt from this city. Thank you Changsha!!
Wiedersehen Wien! Been an amazing time catching up with legends such as @l_j_mezzo@simonorbert@erloesungdemerloeser@adrianvarela500 and many others, watching incredible rehearsals in the Musikverein and practicing my terrible German. Bis bald!

Led by @tpconductor , we’re playing:
- Gabrieli - Canzon in Echo Duodecimi Toni – in this brilliant opening fanfare, hear our brass players play to each other from two opposite balconies in the church.
- Shostakovich - Cello concerto no. 1 (Soloist - @ferecnecef ) – this piece has one of the most memorable openings, with Shostakovich using biting wit to decry Stalin’s oppression as well as writing haunting melodies that touch the soul. We’re delighted that Ferec Necef, an outstanding player, colleague and friend of the orchestra, is our soloist.
- Rachmaninoff - Symphony no. 2 – this is probably Rachmaninoff’s most overtly romantic symphony with countless moments of sublime climaxes and beautiful melodies.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of presenting our annual children's concert with @londoncityorch alongside the amazing Jasmine who was the best script-learner and co-presenter I could have asked for! It delights me that we as an orchestra continue, with the generous support of @fishmongerscompany to provide education and opportunities for live instrumental music in London especially for underprivileged children. Very proud conductor!
