Big News: I’m MOVING✨🏔️🏡✨
It’s official. After almost 8 years in Philadelphia I’m relocating to the Hudson valley. Couldn’t be more excited to shift into this new season and live in the slower pacing of the rivers and mountains up north.
.✨💫
Closing out this chapter in Philly is a moment of thankful recognition. I got to grown into a working artist in my twenties and will always cherish this city and the folks that made it home.
.💫✨
Your last chances to shop with me in person will be this December! ❤️🩹 Come visit studio, find me at my last local shows, shop my moving sales or follow my newsletter to stay informed about this new chapter. I’ll start the new year settling in to my new place with my partner and setting up Touch Threads - New York style. 🌈✨
Hey everyone, for those that are new here and for those of you who’ve been with me since the beginning…
. 👋 Hi, I’m Moth. A non-binary, almost 30 something queer, based in Philadelphia - with big dreams of living deep in the woods. I’ve been working in textiles for the past decade, with a focus on creative reuse and leaving things better than I’ve found them.
.
My work references the natural world, American folk art, astrology, and ritual symbols. I want people to feel empowered when wearing Touch Threads, finding joy and authenticity in expressing themselves through their wardrobe. I want us to reconsider our relationship with our clothing, reconnecting with quality, artful, and classic pieces that can live with us through all of our life transitions.
.
Enjoy the bonus content of the queer cow-them I’ve always been. 🤠✨❤️🔥Thank you for following along this journey, so excited to share more of my world with you here. ❤️🔥✨
Y’all!!! I’m elated to be in the latest issue of Grid: Mindful fashion. Thank you so much for sharing my vision of creating unique treasures from second hand textiles! Here’s snippet, link in stories.
“You can take something you already own, like a jean jacket you never wear anymore, and I can inscribe it with meaningful motifs that can help you feel empowered in your identity,” Snow says. “It’s like getting a tattoo, but for your clothes.”
.
This harkens back to the founding principles of Touch Threads: to remove clothes from the wastestream and create timeless items that will last for decades.
.
“There’s so much power in giving time back to your clothes; fixing and mending them is an act of care,” Snow notes. “You’re going to have these garments for years and years. My favorite thing to hear from people is how often they’re living in these pieces.”
On the studio floor this week: Hound, thistle, Good Luck, pastures, Tender. Is this the year I break into text work finally?
Show line up on it’s way, as well as a studio opening party 🌟 see u soon 🌟
It’s been a big week here. 📦🌟
I’m so excited to be loading into a new space here in Kingston and getting ready to host you all for shopping appointments, consultations, and classes!!! But for now enjoy the color range setup on the blanks rack.
Updates from the studio table / new drops / early signs of life / perfecting color in the house / queer aspirational content / sweet buds / denim dreams / reality check
I’m delighted to share my process on this massive 28ft mural for Rot and Fallow.
.⛰️
The landscape envelops the space, the viewer sitting on a cliff side above a cascade. A lush river snakes through the low lands as wispy clouds tuck themselves into deep ravines. Some cheeky goats play on the lower hill, a ram sits looking out at the vast horizon.
.⛰️
You can enjoy this view with a cup of tea on a big comfy couch. Rot and Fallow also offered variety of community offerings in midtown Kingston so go check them out!
Some color reduction moments from the high desert this past week. Soaked in the sun and looked closely at a lot of art, now I’ll process for another week before creating more to share.
True Winter: I live in the snowiest place and it’s beautiful and very cold and not so bad if you feel really lucky. I’m in the slow churn of the new year, finding my tone for the year ahead and taking it slow while also having competed a massive project (more on that soon). More art to come soon, stay safe and be well.
This was a big year.
Settling in to a new place, rooting in to my home with my love, expanding and sharing, trying new things. Life moving and rolling bringing in the good with the hardships, windfalls of sweet fortune and capacity testing experiences.
I feel tremendous grateful for the life I am building. I extend that gratitude to everyone that supported, encouraged, connected, laughed, traveled, hosted, and transformed with me. There’s so much on the other side of this year, a shift in the energy that I’m looking forward to.
It’s already December and our first snow day upstate. The fall was a whirl of bright blue sky, sunlit fields, and new additions to the house. 🐈⬛✨🐈⬛✨
A few highlights: Catching every farmers market possible, we drenched the living room in plum, I made all these adorable tiny printed shirts (that are live -right now- on the web). Carmine and Motorcycle settled into life perfectly, Dahlias filled vases and inspired colorways.
In the rush of the holiday I missed saying my thanks to you all for your support of my work and world. It means the world to me to see folks connect to garments, dream up projects with me, and gush over colors.
The website is full of new tops and gifts for this holiday season, I’d love for you to take a look!
