I am deeply honored to have been part of something so intentional, necessary, and transformative.
A heartfelt thank you to
@stupidcancer and Brigid Frasquillo for trusting us to help create space for conversations that center truth, identity, and healing—especially for those who are too often unheard.
At CancerCon 2026, I facilitated a 90-minute workshop:
“Rest, Identity & Healing in BIPOC AYA Survivorship.”
This was more than a session—it was a restorative, survivor-centered space where Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) AYA survivors and caregivers could show up fully, without pressure to perform strength, gratitude, or resilience.
Together, we explored a core truth:
You are not only a survivor because you endured—you are a survivor because you are worthy of rest, agency, and a voice.
We made room for:
💜 Honesty without explanation
💜 Rest without guilt
💜 Identity beyond illness
💜 Community as a pathway to healing
We named what often goes unspoken:
Survivorship is not linear.
Healing has no deadline.
Rest is not a reward—it is a right.
We held space for reflection, truth-telling, and reclamation—reminding one another that we do not have to carry everything alone, and we do not have to rush our healing. Healing is a journey.
Everyone left with a curated reminder—thoughtfully and intentionally created by Byrd Cancer Foundation, specifically for CancerCon:
“Held While You Heal: A Reminder to Return To”
A reflection designed not just to be read, but to be felt. To be returned to. To hold you on the days when survivorship feels heavy, uncertain, or unseen.
Because survivorship isn’t just about getting through—it’s about what comes after. It’s about being seen, being heard, and being allowed to exist fully.
Thank you again to Stupid Cancer for sharing your space with us. 🎗️💜
Together, we are building pathways to healing, empowerment, and community—because no one should navigate cancer alone. I am so thankful for everyone I met and connected with! We are FOREVER Family! ♾️🔐
