780 posts over the last 6 years have changed my life in ways I couldn’t have imagined. That’s 130 posts a year, almost every third day. From Antarctica and Japan to Patagonia and Iceland—seeing penguins, puffins, and active volcanoes. Here’s how it went. In winter 2020, I started taking photos with my phone. I created this account on March 9th because a friend told me to. He even wrote my first captions. During lockdown, I practiced constantly, focusing on editing to make my photos stand out. Half a year later on July 4th, I bought my first camera. After getting my first client work in winter 2020–2021, I realized this was my path. I was unhappy with school, and my dad asked if I wanted to drop out to pursue my dreams. I dropped out on my 18th birthday and registered my business a week later without any plan. I kept grinding, delivering every project with 200% effort. On February 20th, 2022, my dad passed away from cancer. I’m grateful I shared his last year because I wasn’t in school. Since then, I’ve traveled to Iceland, Norway, Antarctica, Bolivia, Japan, and Jordan. I landed two dream clients in 2025 and kept improving by doing it over and over. I’m thankful for every decision that led me here. My biggest learnings: - Talent is like a staircase : Everyone has to climb it. talent just determines the size of each step. Some move fast, some slow, but everyone can reach the top. - Sacrifice: You can achieve anything with heart and soul, but you must choose one thing and sacrifice hundreds of others. - Luck: I posted 700+ times. I would never have gotten „lucky“ if I hadn’t put myself out there to be judged. Thanks for sticking around! How to shoot drifting cars in Iceland you might ask? Let me tell you how: First of all, you have to go on a solo trip. Don‘t make a plan and buy a oneway ticket to Iceland and go with the flow. Rent a car and talk to a lot of strangers because otherwise it will be boring. Then drive in the middle of nowwhere to enjoy the nature around you. Meet 2 locals at 10pm. They just want to go biking, but don‘t hesitate to ask them why they‘re biking at 10pm. Show them your rental car, but most important, put your @petermckinnon backpack in front so they can see, that you are a photographer. You start talking, he recognize your backpack - he tells you, that he‘s also a photographer. He let you sleep on his chouch for 1 week to save you a lot of money, you become friends and he invites you to a local drift scene to film. This was actually the most luck I‘ve had in a while. This is probably a once in a lifetime chance, to shoot drifting cars in Iceland… especially in this lighting contitions! And it was also the first time to try out my new 5inch drone with the O3 unit. For a long time I always carried heavy camera equipment on my hikes/skitours to provide best quality here on Instagram. Today I only had my phone and I have to say it‘s way less complicated and almost nobody would realize that this whole set of pictures are taken with a phone… I think this was the last ski tour of the season.
