Mark your calendars! December 5th, 2024 @ The Cobalt. XENO & OAKLANDER (Brooklyn), Total Chroma, Stahv (Seattle), and Sektion Tyrants. Tickets available @ https://orangetickets.ca/detalles_evento.php?id_evento=1883 Tickets also available at Matterhorn Records, Red Cat Records, and Neptoon Records. XENO & OAKLANDER Xeno & Oaklander are a minimal electronics / synth pop duo (Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride of Martial Canterel) based in Brooklyn, New York. As artists, they have been deeply involved in the analog synth community since 2004 (the release of their debut Vigils LP on Xanten), and have helped promote and inspire the revival of synth wave in the US and throughout the world through their extensive touring and prolific output. Following their debut on Xanten, they released the Sentinelle and Sets & Lights albums on Wierd before signing on to Ghostly International, where they unveiled their widely acclaimed albums Par Avion and Topiary, introducing their innovative mastery of analog synth production to a wider audience. During the Ghostly album sessions, the duo also recorded Movements and Movements 2 commissioned by the National Center for the Arts, Grenoble, and Ecole du Magasin: an inspirational 35 minute piece recorded live and inspired by travel in space and time. #minimalsynth #synthpop #electronicmusic #coldwave #darkwave #postpunk #vancouvershows

Verboden Arts Presents: KONTRAVOID with guests: MVTANT, I SPEAK MACHINE, & TOTAL CHROMA Live at The Cobalt Cabaret. Oct 17th 2024 Kontravoid (LA/Toronoto) Kontravoid’s masked mystique has remained for over a decade. Ever since the release of his self-titled LP in 2012, the Canadian-born, LA-based Cameron Findlay has perfected dark pop with a unique composition which moves eloquently through the EBM, electro and goth genres. His past releases, such as 2019’s “Too Deep” and 2021’s “Faceless,” have no trouble reaching the most derelict corners of foggy, strobe-lit clubs, leaving listeners with no choice but to dance. With an uncanny softness and unmistakable songwriting ability, Kontravoid composes heart-wrenching songs that are both captivating and drenched in melancholy – showcased on 2018’s “Undone”, which has been lauded as a fan favorite since its release. MVTANT (San Antonio TX) Mutant Body Horror.   Mvtant was conceived as a cassette tape industrial project: motorik lines pulse out of analog synthesizers and dreamy primitive digital workstations.   I SPEAK MACHINE (LA) I Speak Machine are vocalist and synth-nerd Tara Busch and filmmaker Maf Lewis. Together, they make brooding soundtracks and horror/sci-fi films, creating audio and visual in unison to give both elements equal prominence.   Total Chroma (Vancouver) the solo project of the producer behind Wire Spine and Weird Candle, presents a unique blend of classic EBM and Darkwave infused with mutant rhythms and unconventional arrangements. Its sounds are influenced by the exploration into its creator’s Sami heritage, his experiences in mental health outreach and rehabilitation, and the rugged landscape of the desert where he spent his formative years. His lifelong passion for exploring science fiction and occult literature informs his songwriting, resulting in lyrics that traverse the realms of off- beat fantasy, metaphysics, occultism, and surrealist poetry. This fusion of influences creates an eurythmic experience that is both captivating and enigmatic. Doors 8pm Ticket link in bio
