I enjoyed every short story in this collection. Each one feels relatable and familiar, brought to life through vivid details—from sounds to scenery—that make the characters and their journeys easy to imagine. 🌿📖
What stood out most to me was how these stories highlight the power of education, storytelling, and staying open to learning throughout life. Spanning decades and three countries (with many set right here in Ontario!), the book explores shifting homes, lost homelands, distant memories, fragmented family moments, and the beauty and pain of real lived experiences. There’s even a story told from the perspective of a carpet—so creative! ✨
I also loved the diverse cast of characters from different racial and economic backgrounds. Their struggles, joys, and circumstances make each story thought-provoking and deeply human.
Unique, heartfelt, and full of insight—this is a wonderful read for young adults and older readers alike. 📚
