EXHIBITION TOUR part III spotlight TORSTEN RUEHLE „Life on Earth“ JENS HAUSMANN & TORSTEN RUEHLE until 18.04. TORSTEN RUEHLE creates captivating light boxes that depict interiors as backlit scenes. In these illuminated objects, the rooms appear as if they have been recently vacated: carpets with shoe prints and cushions with body shapes convey warmth, scent and a faint echo of life. His collaged light paintings reveal a multi-layered interplay of contours, form and colour. The line is the defining element of his interiors. This creates a special tension between the sculptural content of the image and the two-dimensional, artificial line. EXHIBITION TOUR part I „Life on Earth“ JENS HAUSMANN & TORSTEN RUEHLE until 18.04. We are delighted to present new paintings by @jens.hausmann alongside light boxes by @toruehle : painting that explores space and interior space through materiality and abstraction, line and collage. TORSTEN RUEHLE creates captivating light boxes that depict interiors as backlit scenes. In these illuminated objects, the rooms appear as if they have been recently vacated: carpets with shoe prints and cushions with body shapes convey warmth, scent and a faint echo of life. His collaged light paintings reveal a multi-layered interplay of contours, form and colour. The line is the defining element of his interiors. This creates a special tension between the sculptural content of the image and the two-dimensional, artificial line. The lighting creates an atmosphere in the room beyond the boxes – the lines become blurred. JENS HAUSMANN’s works are also characterised by deserted scenes in which the absence of inhabitants creates a mysterious atmosphere. Traces of human presence remain visible in his work, and nature and plants seem to lead a life of their own alongside and within the architecture. The buildings are mostly based on real architecture, but are distorted in a painterly manner, exaggerated in perspective and condensed into a constructed reality. Light, cubic forms and brilliant colours create dramatic, almost theatrical pictorial spaces.
