Football Flashback Friday: Celebrating 10 Years of “Four Legends”
Hard to believe it’s been 10 years since I painted Four Legends; my second mural in Houston and, at the time, the biggest piece of my career. Created in 2016 at Toros Lifestyle Soccer - Arts District , this 65 ft x 25 ft mural honors four icons of the game:
🇦🇷 Maradona
🇨🇴 Pibe Valderrama
🇫🇷 Zinedine Zidane
🇧🇷 Pelé
Painted on corrugated metal and brought to life thanks to the support of the Giraldo family, the mural quickly became a landmark for Houston’s football community—a place where fans, families, and players of all ages gather to feel closer to the spirit of the beautiful game.
Over the years, this mural has carried its own stories:
- In 2024, Pibe Valderrama visited Houston and personally signed his portrait.
- When Maradona and Pelé passed, the Argentinian and Brazilian communities gathered in front of the mural, lighting candles and celebrating their legacies.
Moments like these remind me why I create—art has the power to bring people together, to memorialize, and to keep legends alive.
Here’s to a decade of Four Legends. And to the community that continues to give it meaning.
