The out-of-this-world artwork created by Thailand’s own Torlarp “Hern” Larpjaroensook involves multiple mediums, but for almost a decade he’s put a particular focus on utilising found and ready-made objects to create a multitude of strange sci-fi sculptures and some truly eye-popping intergalactic installations.

𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Review of 𝘖𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘱 Eric Lim Jit Kai reviews 𝘖𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘱 (2026), presented by NTU Museum (@ntumuseum ) and featuring works by Torlarp Larpjaroensook (@torlarp_hern ), Tromarama (@tromarama ), and Boedi Widjaja (@boediwidjaja ). Using memory as a conceptual frame, the exhibition delves into the complexities and nuances of finding identity and belonging in an ever-changing world.
This article is the winning entry of On Second Thought, a writing competition by NTU Museum. On the cusp is on view at various locations around Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, from 21 January to 2 April 2026.
“Here, I found the art right on the cusp of the transition between domains. History resisted fading into obscurity with the use of modern technology, the digital world reached into the physical, and tradition contrasted with visions of the future.”
