Uncle Louis (Official Music Video)
This may be the most important song I’ve ever made. Working my shadow. Unraveling my origins. Still in awe. 3 years in the making. On a journey to find the words that can fully articulate the duality of man. Specifically a man that was fundamental to my understanding of this world. I aimed to do justice to his best and worst, that’s the only way I can make sense of him. Keeping the same energy I grew accustomed to since the day he had us trappin from 14th and Lloyd to Central Library in the middle of winter right after a mf snowstorm. Since then my soul has only made space for unfiltered truths. Since then I’ve known my feet will carry me to wherever I set my mind to. He couldn’t overcome his darkness but the tools he gave me helped me overcome my own.
As I grow I find that one of the most rewarding parts about hip hop isn’t in how clever a bar can be. It’s how deep of an understanding of self you can achieve once you commit to the craft. Once you TRULY commit to being a vessel for creativity and truth. This music oftentimes feels like a fight for external viewership when really it’s a journey of self discovery. At the same time, the only other adjacent reward is the connection these offerings form with others. I hope this finds you well.

Real art is timeless. Written from my jaded heart back in 2022. This song holds a special place with me. Made in the same sessions as Rapping Like The Rent Due. Back when I would get off from Masterlock catch the 21 to 49th then walk 20 minutes to Vliet while listening to beats. That time became a testament to what I’m capable of when I’m just locked in with myself.
