Tori Vincent is a contemporary dance artist, choreographer, and educator whose work bridges rigorous technical training with a curiosity about personal and social transformation. Rooted in both Southern and Philadelphia dance communities, she has begun to emerge as a distinctive voice in the city’s independent performance scene. Early life and training Originally from Lafayette, Louisiana, Vincent discovered dance in a region where Cajun and Creole cultures shape a strong sense of place and community. She went on to earn a BFA in Dance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2018, grounding her practice in ballet, modern, and contemporary techniques. This academic foundation continues to inform the precision and musicality evident in her choreography. Move to Philadelphia After graduating, Vincent relocated to Philadelphia, a city known for its experimental and highly collaborative dance landscape. There she has worked with companies such as Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company and has recently performed work connected to Koresh Dance Company, further integrating into the city’s professional networks. Her roles as performer, teacher, and collaborator reflect a commitment to engaging multiple layers of the local arts ecosystem. Choreographic voice Vincent’s choreographic projects, including her show “Blue Écrevisse,” highlight her interest in narrative, atmosphere, and emotional nuance. She often explores the roles individuals play in their own health and the health of their communities, framing the body as both subject and witness. Collaborations like “To Dance With a Purple Goblin” further reveal a taste for interdisciplinary, theatrical approaches that blend dance, music, and character-driven imagery. Educator and emerging leader Beyond the stage, Vincent teaches at Koresh School of Dance, sharing her experience with students in one of Philadelphia’s most active studios. She also instructs Pilates and pursues yoga teacher training, emphasizing holistic strength, awareness, and longevity in dancers’ bodies. Through these intersecting practices, Vincent is shaping a career that values both artistic innovation and sustainable, embodied living.
