Reposted from @bookish.by.trade - QOTD: What new release books are you getting today? . There are some great books being released today including THE REDWOOD BARGAIN by @markellegrabo , a stunning YA Gothic Fairy Tale. I really enjoyed this book and if gothic vibes are your jam, then definitely pick up a copy today or request it from your local library. . SYNOPSIS: To free her cousin from an indentured contract, Katrien agrees to fulfill their lord’s bargain with the fabled “Redwood Man.” Three maids before her have posed as his stepdaughter, Lady Zaviera, and met this lord of the forest as promised. But Katrien means to be the first to fool him—and live. Impersonating a Lady is no easy feat, especially one as beautiful and aloof as Zaviera. With one month before she’s sent off, Katrien is put through endless lessons, even as the Redwood Man’s suffocating vines overtake the manor and threaten its staff. Zaviera takes a special interest in her training, and their shared interests grow into shared affections. But the Redwood Man awaits his prize. Caught between duty and desire, her future and her past, Katrien must navigate a tricky bargain—or risk failing those she holds dearest. . This post is part of a tour for @topplingstackstours . You can follow along with the rest of the tour here: /2026/03/20/tour-schedule-the-redwood-bargain-by-markelle-grabo/ . Reposted from @redreviews4you - THE REDWOOD BARGAIN — Mini Review 🌲🖤 (3.75 stars) This one is all atmosphere — the kind of Grimm‑rooted fairy‑tale energy you find in the old Jacob and Wilhelm collections, not the bright Disney retellings. The Redwood Bargain leans into the older tradition where clever girls survive by reading the room, navigating danger, and moving through spaces they were never invited to inhabit. It’s a world of struggle, quick thinking, and quiet resilience — the exact skills that sit at the heart of YA learning. These characters aren’t waiting for rescue; they’re negotiating, adapting, and outsmarting the forces around them. The forest feels alive, the bargains feel ancient, and the whole story carries that moss‑soft, mist‑heavy sense of being watched. A strong 3.75 for me — close to four — especially for readers who love their fairy tales with roots in the original folklore rather than the polished modern versions. Link to my full Goodreads Review and to the Tour Schedule can be found in my Stories Thank You @topplingstackstours @pagestreetya & @markellegrabo for the DRC via Netgalley #TheRedwoodBargain #TopplingStacksTours #pagestreet #MarkellGrabo yafantasy 🔇🎶 Audio Alt Text: Grimmer Diary Tale Intro” by Frank Petruccili is dark, fairytale‑leaning instrumental with a slow, creeping build. Soft, echoing piano notes open the track like someone turning the first page of a haunted diary. Low strings hum underneath, creating a sense of tension and candlelit mystery. The rhythm stays steady and deliberate, as if guiding the listener down a winding forest path where something old is watching. The whole piece feels like a gothic lullaby — moody, cinematic, and perfect for a story that begins in shadow. 🖼 Alt Text: A Gothic forest‑themed mood board with misty woods, a decaying mansion, earthy green and brown tones, and the cover of The Redwood Bargain centered among pinned photos

The timelines and dual pov added quite a bit to the story which I really enjoyed. This is definitely a must read if you enjoy gothic fairytales. Reposted from @kmartbooks 🅑🅞🅞🅚 🅡🅔🅥🅘🅔🅦 May the Dead Keep You by Jill Baguchinsky 🎭 Genre: YA Gothic Horror 🌈 Representation: Queer (Bi main character), Chronic illness (peanut allergy, PCOS) 💻 Check the website (plingstackstours.com) to follow the tour schedule and to see all of the gorgeous posts! Perfect for fans of Don't Let the Forest In and Wuthering Heights , May the Dead Keep You is a gothic YA horror about the pasts that haunt us and the stories we decide to make for ourselves. A story about breaking cycles of abuse and overcoming generational trauma, May the Dead Keep You is an edge-of-your-seat listen—equally horrifying, heart-wrenching, and hopeful. --- Mini-Review: Quietly creeping dread from the very first pages. This one takes up space in your gut and makes you feel a little ill as your brain yells about the red flags. Catie lives in a gothic estate surrounded by redwood forest and prefers it that way until a boy who can bring dead things back to life moves in next door. And then the men around her start changing. And something very old and very wrong begins to surface. The other POV chapters are particularly unsettling because they hand you clues just fast enough to make you dread what's coming before Catie can see it herself. The horror builds steadily and gets genuinely visceral with body horror elements that made me grin (I love body horror, sorry not sorry), but underneath all of it is a REALLY thoughtful story about generational trauma, cycles of abuse, and reclaiming your own identity from something that tried to consume it. Thank you to @topplingstackstours & @jillwritesbook & @littlebrownyoungreaders for the complimentary copy! #MaytheDeadKeepYou #TopplingStacksTours #JillBaguchinsk #yahorror #horrorbooks

Reposted from @ashton_reads • • • • • • missing your wuthering heights era already???? well, I’ve got your next fix! 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ may the dead keep you is essentially a folklore-esque horror twist on wuthering heights with a focus on ghostly apparitions, generational trauma, and what might happen if the dead could return 👀 I’m maybe fifty pages into this book and I’m absolutely hooked. Between drawing connections to brontë’s wuthering heights to getting goosebumps at the shadowy figures haunting the narrative to salivating over the prose, I’m having an amazinggg reading experience so far!! Not to mention that it is rounding out my wuthering heights era quite nicely 😭😭 I’m absolutely loving it so far, and I CANT WAIT to keep reading and unearth more secrets about the heights, the people who lived there before, how is there necromancy???, and why our fmc is suddenly feeling a bit haunted in what is supposed to be her safe space! I feel like having a bit of knowledge about wuthering heights is enriching my reading BUT it’s not necessary! If you at all like stories with amazing writing about spooky happenings, a house with secrets, and/or the deep spirituality of wandering in the woods, then this should be your next read! 🌲🐦‍⬛🕯️ this post is a stop on @topplingstackstours ‘s tour for this book’s release!! you can find more stops on their page, and the book is out NOW so check it out! Reposted from @read_with_kc • • • • • • 🌟Book Tour Feature🌟 Title: May the Dead Keep You Publication Date: April 21, 2026 Genre: Horror Pages:384 Format: 📖 💫Here are the Top 5 Reasons to Read May the Dead Keep You, distilled from its gothic atmosphere, emotional core, and haunting mystery.💫 🕯️ 1. A Gothic Horror That Actually Means Something The book blends classic gothic elements an eerie estate, creeping dread, and supernatural disturbances with a deeper exploration of generational trauma and cycles of abuse. It’s horror with purpose, not just vibes. 🌲 2. A Setting That Feels Alive (…Maybe Too Alive) The Heights, Catie’s family home in the redwood forest, is practically a character. Reviewers highlight its haunted history, unsettling atmosphere, and vivid sensory detail, making every hallway and shadow feel charged. 🧟‍♂️ 3. Necromancy, Mystery, and Slow-Burn Terror From a resurrected woodpecker to faces in mirrors and eyes in wallpaper, the book layers its supernatural elements with escalating tension. It’s not jump-scare horror it’s creeping, psychological, “something-is-wrong-here” horror that builds beautifully. ❤️‍🩹 4. A Heroine You Want to Protect (and Cheer For) Catie East is introverted, observant, and deeply connected to the forest she calls home. As the people around her shift into something frightening, her journey becomes one of self-preservation, truth-seeking, and breaking harmful patterns. 🔮 5. Perfect for Fans of Gothic Romance + Emotional Horror If you love Wuthering Heights energy, atmospheric YA horror, or stories where the supernatural mirrors emotional wounds, this book hits the sweet spot. Early reviews call it gripping, tense, and unexpectedly hopeful. Review will be on StoryGraph and Margins

Written in short verse, and more pictures than words, I felt like I was beside the author as she told me her life story. As a mom myself, this was a sadder story for me, as I could relate to both the author and her mother. It must have been tough having a mom dealing with what appeared to be a bad case of PPP, and it upset me that the stigma of mental heath issues caused such a rift in their relationship. I liked that the story, while still actively happening today, ended on a more positive note and showed how getting help is healthy, and shouldn’t be stigmatized. I hope this author puts out more graphic novels in the future, whether memoir or fiction. She’s incredibly talented! Reposted from @therearenobadbooks • • • • • • 5 reasons to read + Character mini art 🦋5 stars 🌟 Very beautiful, true, and sad. The color palette is perfect for the art style, design and emotion of this story. A life from birth to adulthood. Navigating the hardships of being between cultures, in China and Toronto. A caring father and a mother with mental issues. The stigma and the switch to a more understanding (we hope) society that helps and accepts help. Very relatable, doesn't matter what ethnicity we are. Happy Release Day _____ I love graphic novels specially when they are inspired by the author's life experiences. ________ A poignant and vividly illustrated graphic memoir about a young woman's search for belonging as her immigrant family moves between Canada and China. Reposted from @debreadsalot 🎉UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN by Lily Kim Qian🎉 Graphic memoirs are some of my absolute favorite kinds of reads. The story is so important that it needs to be told in both words and artwork and it absolutely packs a punch while you read it. Lily has constantly moved her entire childhood. From all over Canada, to China and back, she’s lived in different parts of the world with her father because her mother has serious mental health issues. Because of the constant travel, she doesn’t feel like she belongs anywhere and she also worries that what happened to her mom might happen to her as well. She wants to be her own person but the fear of what is in her family’s past continues to haunt her. I very much appreciated how this book talks about depression very frankly. Any talk about mental health has such a bad stigma in Asian culture even to this day and people just don’t want to think about it much less discuss it. If there is any hint of mental illness, anything out of the ordinary that will cause you to lose face, it’s better to avoid it and pretend that it doesn’t exist. Of course this is the wrong way to handle it, and situations like Lily’s mom happen and people do not get the help they desperately need. Lily’s dad isn’t perfect but he was there for his daughter when she needed him and he did the best he could. It is very refreshing to read about a father who steps up and makes sure his child is protected and taken care of. I know that the bar is set really low for men sometimes but with Asian culture, this isn’t always a given so I very much was pleased reading this. I read this book pretty quickly and then went back and went through it again to savor the story and artwork. I really liked the art style and illustrations in this book and I feel like they fit the words so well. This book was so incredibly moving and I feel that it’s one of those books that needs to be a must read for everyone, no matter what age you are. Thank you so much to @topplingstackstours and @lkq.art for including me on the tour and for an advanced copy of the book! #UntilWeMeetAgain #LilyKimQian #FirstSecondBooks #TopplingStacksTours Macmill
