कॉमिक्स का चस्का शायद जेनेटिक है मेरे मामले में. माँ कॉमिक्स की शौकीन रहीं हैं शुरू से. साई बैरी के बेताल (फैण्टम) का एक पोस्टर दीवार पर लगा लिया था टीनएज में और नानी से बड़ी डाँट खाई थी. शायद मेरी पहली कॉमिक भी माँ के चलते एक वेताल की इंद्रजाल ही थी. उनको शौक था, मैं दो कदम आगे बढ़ के जुनूनी निकल गया. पागलों की तरह कॉमिक पढ़ा करता. एक बार टायफाईड ने ऐसा घेरा मैं महीनों बिस्तर पर पड़ा रहा, माँ कभी कभी बचाये पैसों से कॉमिक्स किराये पर ला कर देती रहीं. जान किसी तरह बची, पाँव इतने कमज़ोर हो गये थे कि फिर से चलना सीखना पड़ा. उसी दौर में शायद मैंने अपना पहला कॉमिक कैरेक्टर बनाया, नाम रखा ब्लू ची (पता नहीं क्या ख़ब्त थी), बरसों बाद भी माँ पाँच किलोमीटर दूर लाईब्रेरी से मेरे लिये किताबें लातीं रहीं. कई बार मैं मनपसंद किताब न होने की वजह से झुंझला जाता और ऐसे परेशान करता कि वे बदलवा कर किताबें लातीं. जब ड्राईंग कर के मामा की प्रिस्क्रिप्शन बुक खराब करने लगा तो माँ ने पहली स्केचबुक दिलाई और कड़ा क्रिटिसिज़्म भी दिया. जब धीरे धीरे किताबें जोड़ कर अपनी लाईब्रेरी बनाई तो कॉमिक छिपा कर रखने के लिये अपनी साड़ियाँ दीं और मेरा बैंक भी बनीं, मेरी कॉमिक्स रद्दी में बेचने की वजह से कई बार बहुत भयानक लड़ाइयाँ भी हुईं हमारी, कॉमिक्स के चक्कर में मुसीबतों में फँसने पर बचाया माँ ने और बाद में थप्पड़ भी जड़े, मगर कॉमिक्स का नशा कम न हुआ. साई बैरी से फैण्टम का पोस्टर बनवाया कि अब इसे फ्रेम करके लगायेंगे घर पर. नये कॉमिक्स वैसे बकवास आने लगी हैं तो हम घर पर पुरानी कॉमिक्स ही पढ़ते हैं अब. वैसे ब्लू ची करीब बीस साल बाद रोल नम्बर 21 के एक एपिसोड में नज़र आया.

And This season of @comicconindia comes to an end. The crazy Mumbai energy, one of our coolest launches with the starcast of Vvan. Zaniest panel with @jaavedjaaferi bhai, @babajogeshwarivod and @abbasmomin88 cherry on the top was @tcbtindia awards. Getting time to speak and hangout with #Manu aka Edison George in Mumbai was a dream come true, thanks for that @thepopculturecollector Also, robbing comics from @sanjaygupta_rajcomics sir at ComicCons is a ritual now. It was beautiful to see how you are loved and respected by everyone in the creative industry. Meeting @ashishsk.avgcxr sir at Cons was an added bonus. Also, this was the year when we started having The Comics Heritage Vault at ComicCons where fans could witness Original Artworks of Indian Legends, thanks for all the hardwork you do for this feature @silver_panda_ also a big shoutout to the @cci.volunteerlegion (my son wants to join the legion when he grows up, pretty aspirational I think).
