So, why the three-part saga?
For me, heading to Mona Yongpyong wasn’t about the racing. I was on a mission: to find the person who truly deserved the 2026 Monk Dawg Award.
To be fair, I missed the award last year—but this isn’t the kind of recognition that needs to be forced annually. It has to be earned.
When you’re looking at mechanics at this level, the technical skills are often neck-and-neck. So, what was I looking for? Honestly, I already had someone in mind. I wanted to see if the legends were true (well, maybe not the Las Vegas stories).
As the weekend unfolded, I watched him sort out
@indy_deavoll ’s brakes, explaining the issue with total patience while praising her qualifying run. After the rounds were done, I noticed the gravity of the pits: everyone just naturally gravitated toward his area to shoot the shit.
His role this weekend was more "concierge" than lead wrench, but after knowing this man for six years—and only ever hearing him pass on messages of praise for others—I knew it had to be him.
Without further ado, I am proud to present the 2026 Toolboxwars Monk Dawg Award to:
@warnerevan
Congratulations, Evan! Your passion for the craft and the way you share it with the community is exactly what this is about. Thanks for everything you do.
