Tuscany😍From Viale dei Cipressi and blue clay perfection in Bolgheri to a deep dive into Brunello as a panelist for Brunello Forma. The project represents a new and innovative approach to vintage evaluations focused on context, qualitative descriptors and nuance rather than the simple and traditional star-rating system where the wines also were evaluated only a few months after the harvest. A thorough calibration with 60 wines from 2011-2020 prepared us for the evaluation of the 2021 vintage, soon to be released. Although still tiny, wine production in Norway is growing🙌 This year’s conditions are so far very promising which is great after a year like 2024. Solaris and Rondo are the two main hybrids used across the country and most plantings are in the region of Vestfold within 1-2 hours from Oslo. Really proud to lecture 350 Monopoly shop managers @asvinmonopolet about #mousiness in wine today. They got to taste som really «nice» examples of this interesting wine fault🐭More awareness and exposure to clear benchmarks of the taint is definitely key to higher detection rates of mousy flavor in wine among wine pros.
New judge alert 🚨We're thrilled to welcome Tone Veseth Furuholmen MW at judging this May!
Furuholmen works as a senior product manager for the Norwegian Wine Monopoly and she teaches Sommelier Education and WSET Diploma in Oslo. Her knowledge and expertise will be invaluable to the panel!
Fun fact: She is an expert on mousiness in wine— the theme of her final MW Research Paper!
