Biomaterials are often talked about as the future of fashion, but they’re also widely misunderstood. From performance to scalability, a lot of these conversations are shaped by assumptions rather than reality. The truth is, this space is evolving quickly, and biomaterials are opening up new ways to rethink how fashion is made. Understanding the nuances is what allows real progress to happen! #sustainability #biomaterials #materialinnovation #circulardesign #futureoffashion

There’s no single answer to Earth Day. But for fashion, materials are one of the highest leverage places to start, and biobased is proof that better is already here! 🌎✨ #earthday #sustainability #materialinnovation #savetheplanet #earthmonth

Nobody talks about what’s actually in plastic… not just the waste, but the chemistry. These numbers truly stopped us in our tracks, they should be common knowledge. #plasticpollution #plasticfree #climatecrisis #fashionsustainability

_____ Credit: Creative Director: @alexfox_alexfox Managing Editor: @tranngoclankhue Art Director: @edtb_ Photographer: @_deyu95 Art Assistant: @trng.hau_ Marketing Manager: @luciakyy 3D Artist: @heyhuanlei Business Development Director: Trinh Vũ Project Manager: @sydnxyph Event Management: @justbrian.le Editor Lead: @uuyen.n Editor: @chetttroi , @hangaa_ , @uynxhn , @myxaotruonglomo , @feipeio Mar-com team: @quoc.ngn , @nhingtr , @itstminh_ Producer: @akieeet Video Direction: @janehello__ , @sal_lalala , @toniyeee Videographer: @gonu.film Stylist: @xisann Makeup: @dan_truongmod , Khai Minh Hair: Nam Nguyễn, Nguyễn Thanh Lam , Đặng Nguyễn Quốc Thái Producer Assistant: @songminhh_ Stylist Assistant: @nhut.ha0 , @plap_yy Lighting: Tí Studio, Thái Đình Giang, Thái Đình Minh Set Design: Nina Nguyen Studio, Saint 6 Fashion: Montsand, CDAM, Lê Thanh Hoà, LOU BE , DAS LA VIE , Lý Liên Kiệt, FENG Atelier, H2B à La Mode, FALVAON, An Heritage, OIA Studio, Huyền Thoại, Nguyễn Nhật Nghi, SORAMAME, tuong.vn, mihchou, MAVEN, Lê Kiều, GUYEHI STUDIOS, GIANA Accessories: Tun Lấp Lánh, Tonkin Craft, T.A Craft, him.fleuré , Trang sức Hi’ De Maison, Nguyễn Ngọc Tứ, Huyền Thoại, maycainaykia #LOFFICIELVietnam #InnovativeMuse #WOOT26 #digitalcover

Our recent post about upcoming EU fashion regulation sparked a lot of thoughtful questions. Two came up repeatedly: how these policies might affect smaller brands, and what they mean for companies operating outside the EU. While many details are still being defined, the direction is clear… fashion regulation is expanding beyond voluntary sustainability commitments toward enforceable rules around waste, transparency, and product design. The implications for brands, materials, and supply chains are still unfolding. How do you feel about these changes? #sustainablefashion #circularfashion #smallbrand #textilerecycling

The U.S. is starting to legislate against plastic, and 2026 is already marking real changes at the state level. California closed the plastic bag loophole. Illinois and Maine moved against PFAS in food packaging. New York and Virginia are phasing out polystyrene foam. These aren’t federal mandates. They’re state-by-state wins, and they matter. At TômTex, we’ve been building materials that don’t rely on plastic, PVC, or forever chemicals from the start. Not because the law required it. Because it’s the only way forward. Swipe to see what’s changing, and why it’s just the beginning. #biomaterials #sustainablefashion #pfasfree #plasticfree #materialinnovation

The EU is moving from voluntary sustainability pledges to enforceable policy. Between 2026–2030, fashion brands selling into the EU will face mandatory rules on waste, product transparency, and durability. Extended Producer Responsibility will require brands to finance textile recycling. Unsold goods destruction is being restricted. Digital Product Passports will make material data traceable. This is a structural shift, not just a trend cycle. Regulation is finally here, but do you think the industry is ready for it? #epr #sustainablefashion #textilewaste #recycle #reuse

For decades, material science has optimized for performance in use, not performance after use. End-of-life was never part of the design brief. That’s the gap biomaterials are solving! #circulareconomy #savetheplanet #biomaterials #biobasedmaterials #sustainablefashion

Recycling is often presented as fashions solution to waste, but less than 1% of textiles are recycled into new garments. Meanwhile, 92 million tons of textile waste are generated every year… much of it exported to countries where sorting and recycling work is informal, underpaid and physically demanding. When production increases so does the burden placed on both ecosystems and workers! Real sustainability isn’t just about diverting waste. It’s about reducing it, and designing materials that are safer from the start! #recycling #sustainabledesign #innovativematerials #biomaterials #recyclingmyths

Meet Uyen Tran, winner of our 2026 Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Fashion & Design! 🍃✂️ Tran is the founder and creative force behind TômTex @tomtex.bio , a materials innovation company producing high-quality, 100% biodegradable fabrics. Her determination and leadership has led her to develop environmentally friendly products that support the health of people and the planet without sacrificing quality. 🇻🇳 Growing up in the coastal city of Da Nang, Vietnam, Tran recalls that her mother never bought anything new, taking her to thrift stores only after clothing had been repaired numerous times. “Watching [my mother’s] hands stitch life back into old garments made me realize fashion wasn’t just about appearance; it was about care, creativity, and survival,” Tran says. “Later, when I studied design, I understood that what I really wanted was to reimagine materials themselves.” Tran eventually moved to the United States to study fashion apparel design, completing a bachelor’s degree from the Academy of Art University @academy_of_art . In 2019, Tran enrolled in Parsons School of Design’s @parsonsschoolofdesign MFA in Textile Engineering program. Learn more about Uyen and sustainable fashion through the link in our bio!
