In the 2026/7 season, I will have been Music Director of @salfordchoralsociety for ten years, and it’s time to announce this will be my final season with them.
We have had some amazing musical adventures together, from an epic Verdi’s Requiem to performing the music of Dominic Muldowney - a piece I’d long wanted to conduct since performing in its premiere as a treble. And then there was the pandemic - here we created such meaningful projects in very difficult times! We commissioned a new work from @lucyarmstrong91 and @rebecca.hurst70 , where the choir fed into every aspect of the creative process and a superb new piece for the choral orchestral repertoire was born.
I’m so proud of what we have achieved together - always supported by the members, a superb committee of volunteers and of course the fantastic Roderick Barrand on piano and I shall miss them all so much!
This is a wonderful conducting job that is very fulfilling and I will share the advert far and wide when it is released!
I’m really looking forward to our last season together 💪 🎶
I’m so glad I’ve been out of the UK this week.
I make no apology for feeling utter shame for my country and can only hope this data bears some truth. Social Media is an echo chamber but this week has reminded me of so many things - the power of the EU and the many positives it brings, the way we can help our neighbours and work with them to create many great things.
Let’s hope the UK can aspire to be less of a laughing stock, and a valuable contributor! 🇪🇺🇺🇦🇩🇪🇬🇧🎶
