When your mate drops a record on one of your favourite labels (and not just any label, Planet Rhythm) it’s hard not to feel a little smug about it. That’s exactly where we’re at with Tommy Value’s Gavea Groove EP.

Five cuts built for dark rooms and sweaty walls, nodding to those late-night deep rollers we used to chase until sunrise. Tommy doesn’t waste time warming up, with Gavea Groove coming in with tribal percussion, punchy stabs, and that “hey you!” moment that yanks you onto the dancefloor. The A2 keeps the pressure high, a hypnotic loop-driven workout with that same smoky, late-night energy.

Flip it over and you’ve got three different flavours. Vox Groove crunches and swings like a packed basement at 3am, Jungle Juice pushes into deeper, progressive territory, whereas Avulsion feels like the wildcard: sharp, unpredictable, and ready for wherever the night decides to go.

Tommy’s sound is tight, no filler here, just proper dance floor business. Whether you’re queuing it up at home with a drink before heading out or looking for that one track to light up a set, this one’s got legs.

Gavea Groove is out today on @planetrhythmrecords Last week had the chance to drop into @triplevisionrecorddistribution HQ in Rotterdam to pickup the record amongst hundreds of other amazing techno releases. This record has been almost two years in the making - from Boston to Brazil to NYC - and came about through the support and guidance of many friends.
