Got a new phone and it synced to an old iCloud account and all of a sudden there were a lot of old photos in front of me. Here’s a few from the early days of our @cbcq so like 2016-2018 maybe? 1. Right after this Charli XCX asked me what kind of sausage I was having for dinner and I said “Probably brat” and she said “that has a nice ring to it”. You’re welcome. 2. Niall Horan 1.0 backstage at Massey hall when we sang “Horse Outside” after the interview was over. 3. The great Rupi Kaur who told me about getting mobbed at the Eaton Centre as a poet 4. Alan Alda - while I was talking to him on air I checked my notes and he said it temporarily broke our connection and it stuck with me - to try and be as present as possible all the time 5. Billy Corgan and a Thunder Bay T Shirt I think? 6. All of STARS and a guy whose birthday made it to the Newfoundland Herald once 7. d’bi. young anitafrika and my shirt which I loved but I left in a hotel room in Calgary when I made the rookie move of having an early morning flight and not packing the night before. (My guess? Under the bed in that little like ridge area) 8. kd lang after she and I (and this is a true story) talked about that Lawrence Welk version of “One Toke Over the Line” and I realized that this job was not just going to be terrifying but also fun 9. Fleet Foxes though I was really hoping they’d ask me to join in on the round in white winter hymnal. Dassit. 10. The b’ys. Raina the brilliant when she lived in Toronto and we’d get lunch and Jay the funniest broadcaster in Canadian history. 11. GDT! I think this was for his museum exhibit? I think I had a panic attack in this interview but had learned enough to get through it but you can hear my really quickly try and get a little more time to get through it by saying like “uhhhhhhyoulikefrankensteinright?” 12. My favourite of all of these with the wonderful kind hilarious generous brilliant Catherine O’Hara Alllright! I have more to share but this feels like a million years ago but also last week. As always unendingly grateful to the team I get/got to work with and for anyone listening. I’m glad I bought a beard trimmer though. And a steamer.

@machelmontano , the King of Soca, says the purpose of soca is “both a blessing and a curse.” He isn’t just widely credited with bringing soca music to the global stage — he also has a deep knowledge of the genre’s roots and the history of Carnival, earning a master’s degree in Carnival Studies from the University of Trinidad and Tobago. His new documentary, Like Ah Boss: Journey of a Soca King, traces his extraordinary 40-year career, from child star in Trinidad to global icon. @joshgroban starred in the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd — so naturally @tomjoepower had to bring up The Office’s chaotic production, which @joshgroban considers “one of the great versions” of the musical. He also reminisces about playing Andy Bernard’s deeply irritating overachiever brother, Walter Jr., on the show. In this long-awaited catch-up interview, @joshgroban discusses his new album, Cinematic, which is a tribute to the iconic soundtracks of some of his favourite films, from The Lion King to James Bond. 🎬 🎧Find his full interview on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. 🔗Link in bio.
