An honor today to visit four St. Sebastian Sports Project schools and deliver large bags of sports equipment/balls/new signs.
My favorite poster on the trip was at St. Vincent Catholic School in LA near the USC campus (then off to St. Bernard Catholic School in Bellflower, plus St. Malachy in South LA and Santa Isabel next to Salesian High in East LA for the joyful journey):
Driving through the LAX runway tunnel going South on Sepulveda this afternoon, my car headlights seemed to act as a spotlight on this license plate in front of me.
I added the quick pix to my SoCal Sports History 101 bio project entry for No. 67:

Wonder if "67 VIN" is still available ... Suitable for license plate framing.
Labor is work.
Work is better when it is done as a team.
This Labor Day, I think of John August Swanson's work.
It conveyed so many themes of social justice, unity, respect and humility.

Here are Labor Day 2025 images to reflect on:
A toast: To 65 years of marriage and a blessing for our parents - Tom and Terry Hoffarth - who've held it together with patience, love, duct tape and tooled leather.
Five kids, 12 grandkids and now seven great grandkids. Same 3 bed/2 bath home in Hawthorne the last 61 years.
Here is the wedding prayer book from Aug. 20, 1960 at St. Michael's in South LA and a most recent pix from mom's 85th birthday last month.
If you can pick up a hard copy of the Sundsy LA Times today, you will fine one of the coolest supplements I've seem the paper do in many years. If its daily coverage has suffered with cutbacks and people quitting because of editorial decisions, this special section must be worth all the resources put into it. It is in bits and pieces on line but it must be enjoyed in full paper and ink:
