Immensely proud to see this garden featured in @gardens_illustrated this month. More personal than my other projects, it’s a plot of land close to my heart, shaped over many years with my family and lovingly tended by my father.
It’s a garden of memory; my mother, who we sadly lost to cancer a few years ago, was its driving force. A fitting tribute to see it so beautifully photographed by @clairetakacs and written about by @ambraedwards for GI.
Spring is on its way… 🌞
The architectural planting of the Pool Garden awaiting the arrival of Spring and the flowers and foliage it will bring.

A frosty morning a few weeks ago at a project near Bath, beautifully captured at sunrise.
The yew domes are especially striking in this weather, as if lightly dusted with icing sugar.

Last week in Highgate
A rather damp visit to a garden completed a few years ago to edit the planting. All maturing beautifully

A pocket of Jurassic park in the garden…
It’s feels like you are walking with giants when you are immersed in this courtyard. Some of these tree ferns are more than 3m tall…

A glimpse of the courtyard…
I'm a fan of this composition. Tall tree ferns peaking round the corner, vibrant greens against Bath stone and the tranquil effect of water.

Love seeing this project develop over the years.

Architecture + Landscape.
It was important for the garden to help this contemporary home settle into its surroundings.
To achieve this, we projected some of the architecture out into the garden, mowing geometric shapes in the grass meadow and forming blocks of Beech up the driveway.
We also brought planting up to the house, softening it and blending it into the landscape.

Eye catching reflections transform this courtyard garden at night. Lighting strips create a dazzling interplay of light and shadow between the tessellating slate panels of the feature wall.

Early morning in Devon. It will be this garden’s fifth summer this year and it is truly coming into its own. A peaceful, atmospheric space worth all the hard work and effort.

A small courtyard with grand ambitions. The main focus of this space is a 6m wall made from tessellating slate panels. Each panel is bordered with subtle LED lighting, creating an ambient glow.
Viewed from every room in the house, the design was about how the courtyard could enhance the experience of the interior living space.
A single multi stem Amelanchier tree, pictured here in full blossom, is planted in a hand made pot. Treated almost like a piece of sculpture, it provides a softening, natural element to the space.
