We have never felt cooler! 😎 What an hono(u)r to make our debut at the iconic Ronnie Scott’s (@officialronnies , @upstairsronnies ) at the invitation of the equally iconic @lizzieballmusic , and wearing dinosaurs, no less! 🦕 To share our #UriPosteJukeBox live set with audiences (complete with voting, storytime, kazoo-ing, and musical selections from Grieg to A-ha) is always a treat, but to bring it to Ronnie’s felt like the show had found its spiritual home. Next Monday, 20 April, @elenaurioste and I are terribly excited to present our live #UriPosteJukeBox show at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s (@officialronnies ) in Soho, with two performances at 5pm and 8.45pm. Slightly unbelievably, it’s now six years since our original online series (in fact, six years ago today, we were recording ‘I’m Too Sexy’ featuring scordatura violin), since when we’ve toured our live show extensively, inviting audiences to vote on what they want us to play. Our recent Jukebox sets have included the music of A-ha, Lili Boulanger, Dave Brubeck, Dexys Midnight Runners, Antonín Dvořák, George Gershwin, Donald Grant, Edvard Grieg, Ennio Morricone, Édith Piaf, Florence Price, Stephen Sondheim, and Britney Spears. Oh, and Baby Shark. There’s lots of music, a bit of chat, and we’ve always tried to make sure it’s a show which appeals equally to music aficionados and those who have never been to a concert before. Elena Urioste and Tom Poster perform works by two talented composers, Ethel Yeats and Augusta Zuckerman, whose music has lain unplayed in the BBC archives for decades. As far as we know, this is the first time that either piece has been recorded or broadcast. A very special moment. Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Nonet, written while he was a student at the @royalcollegeofmusic , is a piece we feel incredibly lucky to call a Kaleidoscope “signature”: we performed a socially distanced version of it at @wigmorehall in August 2020 and then a much more socially cosy version (seen here!) in November 2022, it was the focal point for one of our early recordings for @chandosrecords , and we are proud to have released our very own edition of the parts and score in partnership with @schottmusic . Now, we’re taking it on the road for some upcoming debuts!
