So excited to finally announce that I’ve been chosen as a Fellow for the British Pavillion at the Venice Biennale!!!!
With this incredible opportunity I’ll spend a month in Venice at @labiennale one of the longest-running and most prestigious cultural festivals, developing a personal creative project and acting as an ambassador for the 2026 commission, Lubaina Himid’s ‘Predicting History Testing Translation’.

As a former textile mill, we are naturally passionate about championing weaving and paving the way for up-and-coming textile artists.
On that note, we’re excited to welcome Ones to Watch artist and talented contemporary weaver Tom Hardwick to the Finishing Room this Thursday evening! Tom will be running an ornamental stone weaving workshop as part of this season’s Overtime Art Club.
In this workshop, you will learn to weave using only a stone, a needle and some yarn to create a beautiful and unique ornamental stone.
Through this accessible approach to weaving, participants will learn basic weaving techniques and simple approaches to designing weaving patterns and tapestries, as well as explore how traditional textiles practices such as weaving can allow us to engage with the material world through a tactile form of knowledge production.
Thursday 19th March
18:00 - 20:00 | £14

About Tom:
Tom Hardwick is a Leeds-based artist studying an MFA at York St John University. Their practice interrogates the material frameworks of memory and knowledge in the Digital Age, reconsidering the conventions of the document through the medium of textiles.
Through hand-weaving, Tom re-materialises and re-humanises the act of data processing, exposing the limitations of digital technology and demonstrating a resistant approach to knowledge that is deliberately slow, soft, tactile, terrestrial and laborious.
Continuing to contend with the digitisation of the archive, Our Libraries Will Not Burn, They Will Disappear Without A Trace, featured in Ones to Watch, addresses the family photograph, encouraging audiences to consider the personal implications of the digitised archive, and their own role in the ongoing mass accumulation of digital data.
This pair of handwoven tapestries combine the rigid and formulaic structure of the digital image with the softness and fluidity of textile, exemplifying the fragility of the digital image while forcing Tom to take agency in the preservation of their own personal photographs.

🐴 Create Absurdist Sculptures
w/ Charlotte Miles
Tuesday 24th March
18:00 - 20:00 | £14
This workshop will focus on Absurdist narratives, which are stories containing illogical events, characters and sometimes even lack an ending. These narratives can be translated into three-dimensional sculptures in the form of vignettes (snap shots) of the story’s climax.
By using imagery from magazines and newspapers as a foundation for our stories, we will embellish and attach them together to form illogical and surreal scenes from an Absurd narrative of your creation.
👁️ Make Your Own Eye Charm
w/ Reece Kelly
Thursday 5th March
18:00 - 20:00 | £14
Create Georgian era eye charms to take home, or add to Reece’s exhibited collection.
During this workshop, participants will learn the history behind a lost fashion trend from the Georgian era, and how this lost piece of history has informed artist Reece’s practice and the eye charms that appear in their work.
In the workshop we will sew, embroider and bead these charms and use a mix of materials to embellish and create a beautiful unique charm personal to you! You can take your charm away with you or choose to leave it with Reece to add to their exhibited collections.
All sessions are suitable for ages 18+. Spaces are limited - BOOK NOW via the link in our bio.
