Something became clearer over the year. If you’ve been here a while, you might have noticed it: I’m building a lane.
That lane sits at the intersection (lol, stay with me) of consumer behaviour, communication, and economics.
It’s the result of two decades of doing the work, plus a lot of pattern recognition.
@tmgrammar is my baby and always will be. My public-private work tends to live on LinkedIn and in stakeholder rooms (yes, audience calibration). In between those sits @africurated — which I originally designed as a community, but which has become home to the work I’ve just described.
You honestly don’t need to follow 😂
This is just me rounding out the year and answering the recurring
“So… what exactly do you do?” question.

My children are 7 years apart; effectively two only children.
The seasons they were born into were very different. My pre Instagram baby got so much of me- I worked my own hours in events so he got drop offs, pick ups, homework help, early dinners, the works.
When number 2 came along, life was changing. I started a corporate job and was working 15 hour days.
What this meant is I was “mama” in a different way. He was turning 4 when I changed gears work wise, getting to “know” him was a priority.
Covid came along and made sure we all got to know each other inside out. When the world reopened with most of us heavier, I tied my fitness journey @pitstoplagos to the school run.
How could I resist my baby asking me “are you taking me to school today?”. So I got in the car, we played tunes, shared words of affirmation and I got to be part of the playground drama and the minutiae you can only know by #beingpresent.
I started this journey in order to keep up with my boys. So grateful for the “double double”!

A day of praise ; for that which has been, that which is and that which is to come.
A reminder not to fear, a reminder not to conform , a reminder that a table has been prepared. A reminder to give thanks, to not be afraid and that God is love.
Thank you Fiola for obeying the call.
Thank you Feran for executing the vision.

I had some thoughts on a well known concept that Iheakachi reminded us of during one of Articulate Woman Collective calls; cost of acquisition >>> cost of retention.
Like most truths, there’s a Yoruba proverb to back it up!
My most humbling moment; they received their certificates of completion and then they looked around and asked — where’s Tolagbe? We want a photo with her.
That’s the thing about building something real.
We closed the gap between competence and communication and the women in the room know.

When you identify a pattern, you build a system.
That’s what The Articulate Woman Collective was designed to do — bridge the gap between how much these women know and how well that knowledge lands in the rooms that matter.
April is my birthday month. I wanted to give something to my community. So I chose women I’ve worked with, convened with, walked alongside — and I poured in.
I am leaving this founding cohort more blessed than I came in.

We have always known this.
Every fable we were raised on said the same thing: ugly comes first. The duckling. The beast. The caterpillar that has to dissolve completely before it becomes anything else.
We knew, as children, that there is a process. That the becoming is inside the ugly middle, not after it.
And then somewhere along the way we decided that we, personally, would be the exception. That our results would arrive without the dissolution. That we could skip the cornrows and the blotchy skin and the jacked-up days and still collect what those days produce.
This carousel is about that fracture — and what it actually costs us.
