Cult film show BAR TRASH — “London’s most fun & informative film night” (Sean McGeady) & one of London’s “50 fun things to do for less than the price of a pint” (Time Out) — returns May to August with a sensational new season that thrusts cinema into the fourth dimension! Promising spectacle beyond your wildest imagination, ‘SCREAM FOR YOUR LIVES!’ celebrates ‘King of the Gimmicks’ William Castle and other plucky pioneers of film exhibition. Every Wednesday and Sunday, queer film fanatic @tokenhomo will revive some of cinema’s forgotten illusions, taking you on a magical mystery tour into a lost world of movie magic where screenings are rarely silent. Opening night (Weds 20 May @genesiscinema ) is a very rare public screening of William Castle’s 13 GHOSTS (1960) with its original theatrical gimmick ‘Illusion-O!’: every member of the audience will receive a FREE ghost viewer but only those brave enough will actually see the ghosts in ‘ectoplasmic colour’… Our season prologue LES DIABOLIQUES (Sun 17 May @finsburyparkph ) is Henri-Georges Clouzot’s masterpiece French thriller that inspired William Castle to ‘scare the pants off America’. Cult film night BAR TRASH returns @finsburyparkph with an all-new season called SCREAM FOR YOUR LIVES! Our first night title is Henri-Georges Clouzot’s "extraordinary and shocking" thriller LES DIABOLIQUES aka 'Diabolique' aka 'The Devils' (1955). Based on a novel by Pierre Boileau and Thomas Narcejac (who also wrote the book VERTIGO is based on), LES DIABOLIQUES is the story of the wife (Véra Clouzot) and mistress (Simone Signoret) of a sadistic headteacher of a second-rate boys boarding school (Paul Meurisse). The women plot to murder him with what seems the perfect alibi. However, things don’t go to plan… ATTENTION! To maintain the dramatic interest of the film, no one will be admitted after the screaming begins. No on under 18 years old will be admitted. We couldn’t ask for a more beautiful bunch of deviants to create this show with, unleashing queer chaos in the aisles whilst delivering eye-moistening moments of lip-synch perfection. @die.lemma rocked our world with an earth-shatteringly operatic opening as disgruntled usherette Trixie followed by a truly terrifying Magenta, @lorendellarco and @duanenasis went waaaay further than their on-screen counterparts, exposing everything about who or what they really are amidst a writhing pile of fellow cast members…, @heymachomei gave perfect himbo hotness and naive lust for Rocky Horror’s birthday, @natfunni tap danced and stomped furiously as spurned lover/fangirl Columbia before making out with our newest arrival @jodiemitchetc blazing a comedy trail into Denton with handlebars on their walking stick and fishnets beneath their blanket, and let’s not forget our two seasoned Queer Horror Nights troopers, @cokendrah revelling in the weird before intro-ing the Time Warp with an insane energy as Riff-Raff (who knew our drag demon would enjoy so much dusting?) and @kingloosewillis , psychotic, imperious, decadent, divine, adorable, hot and heart-breaking in equal measure as Frank. There’s a moment in every show when I burst into tears… This time it was when our Frank @kingloosewillis and Rocky @heymachomei headed down the aisles to fuck as a room full of ROCKY HORROR fans fired their party poppers in unison. The joy, smoke, and gentle whiff of explosive turned the night into a near-religious experience, our brazen queerness vibrantly unapologetic, our deviant appetites fully embraced, the sheer noise from the crowd giving the show its essential punk rock rawness. BOOKING NOW: You might have missed it in the early hours of Sunday morning, but the scream of celebration at ROCKY HORROR when we revealed our next Queer Horror Nights show was enormous. The incredible @rosiegreatorex @riocinema invited us to bring back something truly special to help celebrate 50 years of #rioforever, and so it could only be one plant-based musical, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS marking its own 40th Anniversary this year. The radical DIRECTOR’S CUT returns at midnight on Saturday 11 July @riocinema (pre-drinks 10:300pm / pre-show 11:30pm). THx.

"Whatever happened to Saturday night?" // There's so much to celebrate from our second Shadow Cabaret screening of THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW @riocinema at the weekend, but let me start with the scorching hot tire tracks arrival of John Travulva aka @jodiemitchetc on our scene, blowing a rubber sax before getting chopped into so much meat by @kingloosewillis . Roaring through the aisles as Eddie, or crashing the floor show as Dr Scott, John brought sublime character energy to this iconic dual role, once inhabited by Meat Loaf on stage at the Roxy in LA. And now we have our own greaser from the freezer, a bat right out of hell, dancing here of course with ultimate love sick fangirl @natfunni as Columbia. As the world around us darkens further, I'm reminded of this post by @njeffries after our first ROCKY HORROR. This is my job, to bring people together after dark for radical acts of community. To remind us that we are one. On the anniversary of the Admiral Duncan bombing, as we reel from more anti-Semitic attacks on London's Jewish community, and the countless other incidences of racism, Islamophobia and bigotry that don't make headlines, it seems more important than ever to gather in places where we find our common humanity and share joy in our spirit of togetherness. Cinema can't stop the rise of racist, queer and trans phobic, misogynist, ableist hate on its own. But it can get us ready for the fight. THx
