Aimless, Inc. Headquarters is heartbroken to share that our Founder, our Folk Hero, our Poet of the World, our Vice President of the Abrupt Change Dept., the Storyteller, our beloved Todd Daniel Snider has departed this world. Where do we find the words for the one who always had the right words, who knew how to distill everything down to its essence with words and song while delivering the most devastating, hilarious, and impactful turn of phrases? Always creating rhyme and meter that immediately felt like an old friend or a favorite blanket. Someone who could almost always find the humor in this crazy ride on Planet Earth.
He relayed so much tenderness and sensitivity through his songs, and showed many of us how to look at the world through a different lens. He got up every morning and started writing, always working towards finding his place among the songwriting giants that sat on his record shelves, those same giants who let him into their lives and took him under their wings, who he studied relentlessly. Guy Clark, John Prine, Kris Kristofferson, Jerry Jeff Walker.
How do we move forward without the one who gave us countless 90 minute distractions from our impending doom? The one who always had 18 minutes to share a story. Weâll do it by carrying his stories and songs that contain messages of love, compassion, and peace with us. Today, put on one of your favorite Todd Snider records and "play it loud enough to wake up all of your neighbors or at least loud enough to always wake yourself up.â We love you Todd, sail on old friend, weâll see you again out there on the road somewhere down the line. You will always be a force of nature.
"Like A Force of Nature"
If we never get together again
Forgive me for these fools Iâve been
See if you can remember me when
I was listening to my better angels
Itâs like a force of nature
Coming over me
I canât keep myself from moving
Itâs like a force of nature
May your hope always outweigh your doubt
Until this old world finally punches you out
May you always play your music
Loud enough to wake up all of your neighbors
Or may you play at least loud enough
To always wake yourself up

High, Lonesome and Then Some has arrived. Listen at toddsnider.net.
Written and recorded with friends at home in Hendersonville, TN, Todd Sniderâs fifteenth studio album rises from a long stretch of loss and rebuilding.
Friends, family, lovers, and mentors passed or drifted away, leaving space for reflection and a different kind of rhythm.
The result is nine songs that move slow and sure. What he calls âa song cycle about the effects of love on the human condition.â
âIâve never gotten to stop and go, âI canât believe I got away with that,ââ he says. âBut I did. I never did anything I didnât want to do. And Iâm proud of that.â

Irie ites from Aimless, Inc! We figured today would be as good a time as any to announce Todd Sniderâs Best Of All My Songs 6LP Box set coming on Purple Vinyl.
From Todd: âi consider this six album vinyl project to be the best record iâve ever put out. its where i would suggest someone started listening if theyâd never heard me before.â
The original black pressing sold out fast and itâs been the most requested item in Toddâs catalog ever since, so we pressed 1,500 more.
Pre-order exclusively in the official TS Shop (đ link in bio), with shipments arriving June 26.
From Jon Griffin, who did the artwork: âWorking with Todd was always really cool. He let me draw it my way and he loved it. Most of the time. Or at least that is what I heard...â
Happy Todd Snider Day!

âWORK FOR PEACEâ
Available everywhere you stream music.
Dave Schools recently reminisced on how the band ended up recording the Gil Scott-Heron rap thirteen years ago.
âAt first the idea of doing Gil Scott-Heronâs âWork For Peace (The Military & The Monetary)â seemed almost incongruous to us. After all it was more of a rap/poem than the rest of the material that made up the first HWA record.
In the studio it quickly became apparent to those of us who had never worked with him before that Todd Snider could not only turn a phrase but also that he could imbue that phrase with a poetâs innate rhythmic sensibility. And once thereâs an inherent rhythm that poem can be placed into any groove that fits. I think thatâs how this songwriting thing works or is supposed to work...LOL.
The question then became, âwhat kind of groove will fit?â
The process for creating the first HWA record was taking songs that Snider loved and deconstructing them down to just the lyrics and melody and then rebuilding them into what became our sound.
Will Kimbroughâs âI DONâT HAVE A GUNâ was reconfigured with a slinky smoky nightclub groove....and Todd discovered that the vibe and tempo felt right for him to deliver the Gil Scott-Heron piece...so when we recorded the master take for Kimbroughâs tune we kept jamming for a while so that Snider would have enough runway to land THE MILITARY & THE MONETARY.
Those few days of recording that first HWA record were filled with the kind of lucky and fruitful misadventures that one would expect to occur in Bob Weirâs amazing studio TRI. It all worked out âjust exactly perfectâ as Weir himself would have said.â
Thanks to our friends in Luck, TX for hosting a celebration of Todd's music, and thanks to all the artists who made the trip. You can watch a sneak peak of the show on the Nug.net Youtube page:
