Today in the garden: Ismene, aka Peruvian daffodil. Actually, in the amaryllis family. I first saw them when I was in Singapore. They were everywhere. I just couldn’t get over how unique and beautiful they were. They also reminded me of something that would probably have been on Star Trek back in the day as some exotic flower from some other planet.
Today in the garden: When you are walking out of a plant sale and a lady at a small booth asks “Would you like to try a Daylily for one dollar?” Say yes and bring it home!
Today in the garden: This Angel’s Trumpet is called Ballerina Swirl! The original seeds came from a plant in Atlanta at my friend Ritchie’s house many years ago.
Today in the garden: if you have a spot in your garden that only gets morning sun and is otherwise shaded, the Brazilian Plume flower is for you ! I love it because, to me, it looks like something right out of old Hollywood movies.
Today in the garden: so I scooped the seeds out of a papaya and threw them in my composter. One of the seeds has grown into this tree, which is now blooming and will be fruiting this year!!!
Today in the garden: Years ago, my friend Michael Acosta gave me a card. In it was a small packet of white alyssum seeds. I sprinkled them in one tiny spot in the garden that year. They grew easily, quickly, and spread their seeds every year since so that now I have entire walkways covered with them every spring.
Today in the garden: This Hibiscus is working hard this year! She’s blooming profusely! Thanks to Gina D'Acciaro and Jaq for this gift that keeps on giving.
