thank you a thousand times to the homies in othiel for letting me cram into an airbnb w them and a couple of the ppl in widowdusk, watching all these bands over a two day span was an experience ill never forget. i’m forever appreciative of this scene and this music for bringing us all together to experience so much amazing music. i’ll never forget these two days and i hope all of you can find your way to the next fest.

yaamc is sort of the zenith of modern bedroom screamo, and has been an introductory band for a lot of fans of the genre today. we spoke with them outside of holocene in portland after their show with Awake But Still In Bed and Home Is Where. big thank you to our friend lainey for helping coordinate this and getting us into the gig.

its hard to pin down a sub-genre label for I.E.’s own, othiel. self described as “false-screamo” they veer away from the typical minute and a half long song to deliver a full and hearty track with so many moving parts and technical complexities that make their sound so extremely unique. othiel is not a new band, they’ve been involved in screamo for some time and are now getting the flowers they’ve always deserved with a new album being pushed through zbr and the streaming numbers to show. we will be our home was our top album of 2023 and it should be yours too.
thanks everyone involved in our first event, couldn’t have asked for a better bill or a bigger turnout that was amazing, check out máu, trains to juniper, drought and smother while they’re on the road.
