On the second day of filming #Grapplingshortfilm, we faced what i knew thought would be our toughest challenge. Not only were we working in my modest sized terrace house, but we also had to tackle scenes depicting domestic violence.
The well-being of our cast and crew is always been a top priority for me and
@onparproductions and this time, our concern was heightened, given the sensitive nature of the scenes. Fortunately, my concerns were put to rest.
We collaborated closely with a well-being facilitator, provided by 6ft From Spotlight to identify potential effects on the cast and crew, and we made every effort to create a safe space for everyone to express their thoughts and emotions, especially in the face of potentially triggering scenes.
Personally, I have a strong aversion to violence, so portraying it on screen was a daunting task. However, we were fortunate to work with the talented fight coordinator and actor in his own right,
@kevfight . Kev provided clear instructions to the cast to make the violence appear realistic while ensuring everyone's safety. His professional and matter-of-fact approach eased my anxieties.
What could have been a challenging day turned into a highly productive one, thanks to thorough planning. This approach ensured that the day didn't drag on, preventing exhaustion from turning into emotional strain.
I want to extend my utmost appreciation to the cast, who delivered exceptional performances with true professionalism.
