One of my favorite memories of my father is how he would walk me to St. James School, Ayetoro, a secondary school near our home, to personally tutor me. As a geographer, he shared his vast knowledge, painting vivid pictures of how the earth orbits the sun, how seasons change, and how mountains and rivers shape the landscapes around us. Through his words, the world felt alive, and geography became more than maps and numbers; it became a story of balance, beauty, and resilience. Even as a public figure and a busy man, he never neglected his role as a loving father.
Today, October 30, 2024, after many months of rigorous training and classes, I am proud to share that I made it to the graduation list of the AMI Business Growth Program by Stanford University. Just yesterday, October 29, 2024, I had the honor of being inducted as a Distinguished Fellow of the Africa Institute of Public Administrators (DFAI), became a Certified Management Professional (CMP), and received an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from London Bridge Business School in the UK.
All of this comes at a time when I am still mourning the loss of my father, who passed away on October 13, 2024. How I wish I could tell him that his son is now a doctor. I owe so much to his wisdom, guidance, and unwavering belief in me.
