From a very early age, all I ever wanted was to go to art school. But I didnāt anticipate that it would turn into a job, never mind my own business! The idea of drawing and painting for a living felt like an absolute DREAM. āØ
But life has a funny way of unfolding and here I am, many jobs later, creating pieces that I hope bring smiles to faces, spark little moments of joy, and maybe even become treasures people keep forever.
Iām a calligrapher, illustrator, engraver, live event artist and professional āletās give it a goā person š
I love love LOVE what I do.
Getting to create with my hands every day and turn your ideas into something tangible feels pretty magical to me. š

I'm taking a wee break for summer from my in-person calligraphy workshop but don't worry, you can still learn calligraphy online from the comfort of your own home! With my online Wonderfaux course you can learn the art of fauxligraphy in hours, not years. The online course also has the benefit of videos that you can watch, pause and replay at your leisure!
You donāt need to book it or leave the house, you can literally use any pen or pencil. Just grab what you have!
The course comes packed with resources including printable worksheets, but you can also use a notebook or lined paper too.
In just a couple of hours, you'll master simple techniques to create beautiful "calligraphy" on any surface!
If you are ready to learn a new skill, drop the word SUPPLIES in the comments and I'll send it straight to you.

Wedding seating plans, or table plans are one of my favourite things to do. There's no greater satisfaction than turning a word doc or spreadsheet into something gorgeous! Here is Paula and Stephen's wedding table plan. Something that they asked for in addition to their Whit's Happenin' order of the day and welcome sign because the number of guests grew bigger than they expected! They decided to go with a Celtic theme because they met at Celtic Park and first started speaking properly in a Celtic pub!
There are some common mistakes I see time and time again during the process so hereās some tips to help you sidestep them:
1. Forgetting about you! š¤¦āāļø
It happens more often than youād think. Couples forget to add themselves to the table plan! And if you are changing your name or names, do you want this to be the occasion you see them written down for the first time?!
2. Your Handwritten Table Plans š«āļø
Ironically handwritten table plans are a no-go for me because deciphering your handwriting increases the chances of errors, and nobody wants that! I kindly request that you supply your table plan as a typed document, having triple checked the correct spelling of your guests' names!
3. Last-Minute Changes ā°
Guests dropping out or unexpected additions are super common! I like to prepare your table plan layout in advance, but Iāll wait to add guest names until about two weeks before your wedding as this is when most last-minute changes will have settled by then.
My top advice:
⢠Finalise your plan after your RSVP deadline.
⢠Have a clear system in place to manage those last-minute changes.
⢠Stay calm! On my own wedding day, we had everything from surprise arrivals to guests rushing home to deal with a flooding house. These things happen so just roll with it, and itāll all be part of the story. š
Comment AYE Do and I'll send you a copy of my wedding brochure so you can see the full selection of table plans!

Challenge: Spot the Friends reference!āØ
THE BEST thing about these order of the day boards is knitting together all the references that make you two, well you! This belter for Paula and Stephen who got married just last week (Congrats!) was jam packed with references of what makes them happy - from NYC to Still Game, Football to darts and everything else in between. I even managed to squeeze in the Daddest of Dad Jokes - can you spot it?
What a hoot I had creating this, thank you so much Paula and Stephen!

I know many art students will be graduating soon, so hereās a wee love letter to you all from someone who's been there.š„°
Dear amazingly talented souls,
Hereās something they donāt teach you at art schoolā¦
You can do everything ārightā. Study what you love, build your skills, open your mind, pour your heart into your chosen discipline⦠and still not end up where you expected. In fact, itās quite likely you wonāt. Soz.
I studied 3D Design and Craft. I was learning about materials, making, form, processes and a new way of thinking. I fully imagined a very specific kind of future. Then I graduated and quickly realised... I knew absolutely nothing.
No roadmap. No business skills. No clue how to price my work, find clients, or turn creativity into a living. So I fell into work and learned from every job I had, and there have been a lot of them - many not creative at all! The funny thing is, I didnāt end up where I thought I would⦠but I did end up somewhere that feels right. For now.
Over the last 8 years Iāve built a business around calligraphy, illustration, and storytelling through objects and signage. And I still get to make things with my hands every single day, which is the part Iāve never outgrown.
⨠So hereās your heads up, graduates. ⨠The path rarely looks like the plan, but sometimes it still leads you exactly where you are meant to be.
Trust your skills. Trust that clever creative brain of yours. Learn from every job you do and never stop creating.
If you ever want to chat to someone who has noodled their way through it and found a place that feels like home, my messages are always open.
Sending you all so much love in your final weeks at art school. It is a wild ride, but you've got this.
Jen x
