We’ve got a few tickets left for this Saturday may 2nd’s wall hanging workshop at @lailatextilesstudio in Chicago.
It’s the only known treatment for those suffering with spring fever, according to me.
🌀 May Cyanotype Workshop 🌀
Join Local Artist @tntmade to create your very own cyanotype wall hanging. Cyanotype is a unique form of photographic printing using chemicals that are light-reactive and turn blue during development. In this workshop you’ll make photograms with botanical objects arranged on fabric, expose them to UV light, and watch your image magically emerge. Don’t miss this chance to learn this incredible art form!
Workshop will cover:
• A brief history of cyanotype
• Basics of cyanotyping including chemical mixing, paper prep, and exposure times
• Cyanotype materials including fresh and pressed flowers
• 11x14 Wall Hanging
Date: Saturday May 2nd, 2026
Time: 12:00pm - 3:00pm
if I had a nickel* for every time my mom told me “progress is slow” in response to my anger, despair, and frustration, I still wouldn’t be a billionaire, because a billion dollars is a ridiculous amount of wealth for one person to have. And she tells me this a lot**
I’m reading Rebecca Solnit’s book of essays “no straight road takes you there”—a meditation on what it’s like to live in the middle of the story, because we are always in the middle the story and we won’t be around to see the ending. Time is a giant tapestry and we only get to see this one little part, built on what came before, and headed in an unknown direction.
*I guess we don’t have Pennies anymore
**love you mom ❤️
Flowers let in light at different rates, so when I arrange a composition, I have think about balancing silhouettes with an exposure time that doesn’t over-expose and disappear a flower, or under expose and create boring blobs. This is the part of cyanotyping that is unique to the artist, because it’s all subjective!
You wanna know what isn’t subjective? Diaper Don hiding evidence he sexually assaulted a minor while ICE leaves a blind man to die in the cold and Kansas strips its trans residents of their legal rights.
