Who was Aunt Lotti?
- Objects as carriers of repressed family history
I inherited a loom. It came from Aunt Lotti, as she is known in the family. She was my great-grandmother’s sister, a weaver and had large black long-haired Afghan hounds, whose hair she spun and wove. She never married or started a family, devoting herself instead to her art.
In an interview with her that I found on the internet, she talks about how she and her sister enthusiastically attended the Reich Party Congress in 1933.
Based on the conflict this heritage presents me with, I have created a fragmentary family portrait using objects. Objects that have been kept and passed down, and which are more than mere items.
German history is everywhere in my family’s belongings, partly repressed, partly forgotten. Heritage is also a duty, the duty to come to terms with what was and what we want to make of it.

Keepsakes

The “Keepsakes” series explores the memories that objects evoke in us. These things often seem worthless, but the memories associated with them make them treasures that we cannot part with.
The value of these objects is not material, but arises from the emotions and associations attached to them.
Various approaches are used to examine how we associate objects with a past time, a person, or an event, and what this association means. The actual objects are never used, only their forms.

Fleeting Traces
“Fleeting Traces” visualizes the unconscious
gestures we repeat when using a laptop—the
dotted rhythm of typing and the continuous flow
of scrolling—by translating them into patterns on
fabric. The project captures these fleeting traces
that normally vanish inside digital interfaces and
transforms them into tactile textile expressions,
exploring the process of “Creating analog
through digital gesture.”

String up
‘String Up’ is inspired by a shared childhood memory: building temporary forts by stringing up blankets, creating a personal world of comfort and joyfulness.
Through the acts of stretching, hanging, and draping textiles and light, this project constructs a nesting space that offers softness, intimacy, and emotional shelter.
As light diffuses through fabric, phenomena such as scattering, diffraction, and interference emerge, transforming color into an experiential landscape.

Geschlossene Gesellschaft
Die Arbeit „Geschlossene Gesellschaft“ ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit der textilen Darstellung von sozialen Konstellationen.
Welchen Platz das Individuum im Gewebe zwischenmenschlicher Verbindungen dabei einnimmt und wie sich seine Abhängigkeit und sein Bezug zur Gemeinschaft zeigen, wird anhand der jeweils individuellen Musterung der Anwesenden visualisiert.
Diese korrespondieren im Gesamtbild wiederum so miteinander, dass sie ein Netzwerk des Austauschs und der Verbindung in der ineinander verwebten Tischfläche bilden. Als daraus resultierende Fläche erschafft das Netzwerk sowohl den Platz des Zusammenkommens als auch ein neues Gesamtmuster, welches aus allen entspringt und alle verknüpft.

Silent Labour
My work focuses on breastfeeding as a form of attachment between mother and child. Since birth, I have kept a breastfeeding log to document our shared journey through its many phases. Through a documentary approach, I use the data as both evidence and material to reflect on the invisible labour of motherhood and the societal expectations surrounding feeding and care.
The work highlights how attachment is built through responsiveness - an ongoing act of attention, presence, and endurance.

- the textile initmacy of handknitted socks
Die Arbeit widmet sich gestrickten Socken, welche von Frauen aus meiner Familie angefertigt wurden. Die Socken erzählen von unbezahlten Stunden der Hingabe und zeigt, wie Handarbeit persönliche Nähe und Fürsorge ausdrücken kann. Handarbeitstechniken, weitergegeben von Frau zu Frau, bilden ein Geflecht intergenerationalen Wissens. Durch Handarbeit gefertigte Objekte transportieren Gerüche und Gefühle, verweisen auf Gemeinschaft und Intimität, dieser narrative Charakter liegt in der Natur des Textilen.

Das Projekt „Structures of Attachement“ setzt sich mit dem Begriff Attachment auseinander, verstanden als Verbindung zweier eigenständiger Elemente, die sich gegenseitig bedingen und im Zusammenspiel eine neue Einheit bilden. Die Arbeit untersucht, wie durch den Akt des Webens neue Qualitäten und
Beziehungen zwischen Materialien sichtbar werden und wie Gegensätze eine gemeinsame Funktion oder Ausdrucksform entwickeln können.

AM RANDE DES ZUSAMMENBRUCHS ist eine Suche nach textilen Spuren und deren Übersetzung in Keramik, Porzellan und Zeichnung. In Textilien eingeschriebene Geschichten, Emotionen und Bewegungen werden mittels keramischer und grafischer Techniken übersetzt und deren entmaterialisierter und subtiler Charakter durch die Fragilität der gewählten Materialien visualisiert und unterstrichen.

Die Arbeit stellt unsere Bindung zu technischen Geräten dar, welche uns ähnlich umsorgen und wir von Ihnen abhängig sind, wie an der Nabelschnur hängend. Wir sind untrennbar, unsere Handys und Kopfhörer sind immer bei uns. Über sie, halten wir menschliche Verbindungen aufrecht. Bei Fragen greifen wir nach dem Gerät, teilen das Leben mit ihm. Wir stehen morgens nicht alleine auf und gehen abends gemeinsam ins Bett. Über die Verbindung hören wir Gute-Nacht-Geschichten zum Einschlafen, und sobald uns langweilig wird oder der Impuls entsteht, etwas zu brauchen, ist es da.

Attachment Style
Attachment Style setzt sich mit der körperlichen Erfahrung und der textilen Interpretation der vier Attachment Styles „Secure, Anxious, Avoidant und Disorganized“ nach John Bolby und Mary Ainsworth auseinander und verfolgt einen informativen Ansatz.
Vier gestrickte Oberteile wurden so designt und manipuliert, dass die jeweilige Emotion beim Tragen erfahrbar wird. Diese Arbeit kann als Einladung verstanden werden, sich tiefer mit den eigenen Attachment Styles auseinanderzusetzen.
