It was an inspiration to work on this virtual photograph series for Thabo Makhetha, an award-winning brand that continues to redefine South African luxury. Our process went far beyond the conventional AI-driven workflow. It required deep strategic creative direction and meticulous post-production to ensure the digital environment honored the heritage of the garments. This approach is essential for fashion brands today, as it allows us to build a unified visual world that speaks to both cultural roots and a luxury global standard. By placing these heritage-led designs in spaces where art and architecture meet, we ensured every visual element aligns with the brand's prestige. These AI-driven works represent a new frontier for fashion storytelling, where technology is used to uphold and celebrate the standard of excellence the brand is known for. #ThaboMakhetha #AfricanLuxury #SouthAfricanDesign #DigitalInnovation #LuxuryCraftsmanship #HeritageElevated #VirtualPho #aiphoto #aiphotography

High above the savannah lies Lesotho - a basalt plateau lifted into the sky when Gondwana, the ancient supercontinent, began to fracture some 180 million years ago. Lava formed sweeping highlands rising toward the Maloti Mountains, where Thabana Ntlenyana (3,482 m) stands as the highest peak in southern Africa. At 3,222 meters, AfriSki is a high-altitude sanctuary, far removed from skiing’s expected geographies. The Maloti mountains are not simply terrain; they are the foundation of national identity - Khotso · Pula · Nala (Peace, Rain, Prosperity), a phrase spoken as both greeting and blessing across the Kingdom in the Sky. These highlands have long sustained life. Before colonialism, Lesotho was a thriving agricultural heartland - a place of abundance, exporting grain and wool to support a strong, self-sufficient economy. That legacy lingers in the landscape: stone rondavels scattered across the valleys, a shepherd on horseback tracing familiar paths. Apripista collaborated with Thabo Makhetha-Kwinana, an award-winning fashion designer and cultural ambassador born in Lesotho and based in Cape Town. Founder of the African heritage label Thabo Makhetha, she translates Basotho visual language into contemporary luxury design through her Kobo ea bohali - the “blankets of prestige,” inspired by the iconic Basotho blankets worn across the highlands. Her work has received global acclaim, with features in Vogue Italia and Elle and appearances on international platforms including TEDx. The palette draws directly from the land itself - the blinding white of snow-covered peaks, the lush green of the valleys, and the clear, expansive blue of the sky, the very colors that form the national flag. The Kobo ea bohali is more than a garment; it is a storied language of status, protection and belonging. Wrapped in this modern interpretation of prestige, the skier sends cultural memory onto the snow. Inside 10 Corso Como, this poster became a geographic revelation. Many found themselves searching for Lesotho on the map - tracing the outline of a country entirely encircled by South Africa, and discovering a landscape they had never imagined within alpine culture.

I came, I twirled, I lived my Bridgerton fantasy ✨ Afro couture masquerade style 🎻💛 Wearing: @tmakcc This look was originally created and curated as part of an artist-in-residency at the Iziko Museum, presented as an art display. For this moment, the skirt has been introduced as an extension of the original work, allowing the story to move from the museum into lived experience. Bravo. We’re still processing the news of Bravo Leroux’s passing. The news broke right at the start of the weekend, and it’s been sitting heavily ever since. We had the privilege of working with Bravo during our artist residency at the ISANG, where he took part in the fashion exhibition. That was my first real introduction to him. I remember him arriving at rehearsals with someone I assumed was just a supportive friend. I even said, “Ah, it’s so nice to see a friend showing up like this.” He laughed and said, “No, no—this is my manager.” That moment stayed with me. The seriousness, the respect, the intention. We’d never had anyone arrive at one of our fashion shows with their manager before, and it immediately told me that Bravo was deeply committed to his craft and his career. He took the work seriously—properly, professionally—and I respected that so much. At the time, I didn’t know much about him. A mutual friend had connected us for the show. But once we connected, I began to really see him—his work ethic, his grind, and how quickly his career started to lift and travel. Watching him propel forward was powerful. Just as striking was the love he had for his family, especially for his child. In our check-ins, in passing conversations, you could feel how much that grounded him. It’s heartbreaking to think that we don’t get to witness that journey unfold anymore. We don’t get to watch the growth, celebrate the milestones, or cheer him on from the sidelines. That absence is loud. Rest well, Bravo. Your presence, your persistence, and your passion left a mark. Robala ka khotso.
