Tom Linder isn’t just a DJ — he’s a craftsman. A true product of Detroit’s underground, he’s built his reputation on a no-nonsense, working-class approach to Techno that values risk, energy, and feeling over safe, cookie-cutter blends. Inspired by Detroit street jocks like Jeff Mills, Gary Chandler, and Steve Crawford aka DJ Energy, Linder has always believed that if you paid to be there, you deserve to hear something you’ve never heard before. That means jumping eras, crossing genres, cutting doubles, and pushing the room in real time — not playing it safe.
With decades behind the decks and thousands of performances across North America, Tom has played nearly every room that matters in Detroit, from The Works and Motor Lounge to DEMF/Movement stages and a sponsored DTM Charivari Detroit stage. As a producer, his releases and remixes for legends like K.Hand and Scan 7 helped cement his place in the city’s Techno lineage. As a co-founder of Detroit Techno Militia, he’s gone even further — protecting, promoting, and exporting Detroit’s raw, underground sound to the world. DTM isn’t a trend or a gimmick; it’s a movement rooted in vinyl, multi-turntable mastery, and a militant respect for the culture.
And that’s the magic of a Tom Linder set: vinyl-first, fearless, and fully alive in the moment. No laptops, no shortcuts — just future music delivered with equipment from the past and a mindset forged in Detroit basements and warehouses.
Together, Tom Linder and his wife Angie Linder have become a globally recognized and locally respected Techno brand simply in themselves by staying true to who they are and what Detroit stands for. From backyard BBQ’s, agency/management, education, to good old hospitality, support and presence. Good times.
And every time you see and hear Tom Linder play, it feels like the first time again — urgent, unpredictable, and unforgettable.
