Last year, @aphxbt and I were thinking about how to evolve the @taipeiblockchainweek . How can we use character-driven storytelling to further our goal of making blockchain more accessible, more creative, and more relatable? That’s how BABY BLO$$OMS was born, our first TBW mascot inspired by the Taiwanese plum blossom, and a fun way to personify Web3 for a new generation. I teamed up with my little sister @izzalai , a nurse who’s always wanted to work in children’s publishing. I’ve spent the last few years building community, brands, and storytelling in crypto, and this gave us a rare opportunity to create something together. With the support of the Taipei Blockchain Week and @onboardtheworld_official , we created ABCs of Blockchain: a rhyming A–Z adventure through crypto concepts, designed for Web3 parents and curious kids alike. It’s playful, educational, and filled with Easter eggs for the crypto-native reader. If you're coming to TBW this year, you’ll find copies onsite. If you’d like to support the project, you can learn more and pre-order the book here: /abcs-of-blockchain Thanks for helping us bring blockchain to life one bedtime story at a time. 🌸

Moving to Hawaii from the Bay made me rethink how I see Taiwan, tech, and community. Among local Hawaiians, identity is deeply protected and lived. There is a spiritual undercurrent rooted in ancestry, culture, and place. For a place that became a U.S. state, identity is layered and complex. As a Taiwanese American, I understand that instinct, the desire to define yourself on your own terms and preserve language, culture, and perspective. Being here reminded me that identity is lived in the food, the land, the stories, and the way people treat each other. What it means to ‘live in Aloha’ reminds me of ‘台灣人情味.’ If communities want to thrive in the age of AI and new technology, access to knowledge matters more than ever. The real opportunity is helping more people learn, build, and participate, not just consume what others create. Long-term strength comes from investing in people. When you care deeply about where you are from, you build differently. You build to protect. You build to elevate. You build to show the world what your home is capable of. If you visit Hawaii, I highly recommend volunteering at an ʻĀina Day. It’s a great experience and a chance to give back to the land while learning about Hawaii’s rich history and culture. There are many organizations doing meaningful work, like @nationofhawaii , that are helping share what it means to care for the land and preserve local history.

And just like that, the (self-imposed) sabbatical comes to an end. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to leave work behind when it takes up so much of one’s life and identity. For a few months, I got a glimpse of it — and it was wonderful. A good reminder that there’s much more to life than work. Until then, it’s time to go back to the grind.
