One of the questions I get most often is, “How did you get into doing magic?”
My first year in college, my friends and I would skate down a hill on campus in our free time. Long story short, I wasn’t wearing a helmet, had an accident, and I ended up with a skull fracture and brain injury where I lost my sense of smell for several years.
Recovery was difficult. Losing my sense of smell and not knowing whether it would come back took a heavy toll on my mental health. The constant migraines and recovery from a quite serious concussion weren’t fun either, and it was hard to stay optimistic. I remember journaling in my phone: “If everything really happens for a reason, this all better be for a really good reason.”
During recovery, I was on YouTube and ended up learning how to do a card trick. Eventually, I got good enough to show some of my friends over FaceTime, and then when I got back to school, I started showing all my friends this one card trick I knew how to do! I ended up really enjoying the feeling of entertaining my friends. Eventually, they started to figure out how my card trick was done, and that was the perfect excuse to learn more. Over time, it became a hobby, then a bit more of a side-gig. Until recently..
This past year, I made the decision to pursue magic full-time. What started off as a way to cope with a pretty heavy time in my life, became a life-long passion and now possible career?? These first 4 months of 2026 have been incredible, and I feel beyond blessed to have the support of my friends, family, and everyone that has trusted me with sharing my magic at their events. From walking around in corporate venues, to setting up my one-man show in people’s living rooms, and to being trusted enough by clients to entertain their loved ones on their wedding days! I’m incredibly thankful.
I have some very exciting opportunities lined up that I’m excited to share soon! But for now, I just want to say, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for your support! It means everything.
Best wishes,
Travis
