In Brooklyn, especially in South Williamsburg, there is a large Hasidic community with its own schools, synagogues, and a way of life built around tradition.
The most vibrant day of the year is Purim. People wear costumes, exchange sweets, give to those in need, and celebrate loudly. For one day, the neighborhood turns into a religious carnival.
