I come from a single mother. She worked hard to give us a life I could have only dreamed of. We grew up in a beautiful place where, if in need of a deep breath, we called to the ocean breeze. When life hit hard, she doubled down and got us through—all with a hair flip and a sense of humor. We’ve been through a lot together, and I cannot say I would be here, not just because she birthed me, but because she’s held my hand in my hardest moments and lent me her strength.
She’s my superhero.
I am in awe of this strength and resilience in women. I witness motherhood all around me and I’m lucky to have been mothered by so many.
