On this day, May 16th 1975, Muhammad Ali and Ron Lyle fought for the undisputed heavyweight championship title. Lyle offered Ali the opportunity to compete for the title, despite a loss to Jimmy Young two months earlier, and Ali took him up on the offer. The fight took place in Las Vegas and aired live on ABC.
Ali entered the ring at 224.5 lbs and Lyle at 219lbs, both being the heaviest weight they had ever been up until that point in their careers. Ali was on the defensive at first, and Lyle following a hype up chant from his followers, found an opening and bloodied Ali’s nose. Ali continued to be on the defensive until the fifth round, where he started to dance, taunting Lyle even when he got pinned on the ropes. He again in the sixth round did the “Ali Shuffle” which delighted fans but confused Lyle. At the start of the eight, Ali started to give it his all, aware that this was the round he predicted he would knock Lyle out, but he was fought off. So in the next two rounds Ali took his time and boxed defensively until the 11th round where he stunned Lyle with a right hand and pounced with a barrage of punches, driving him across the ring. Lyle was defenceless and the brutal onslaught was called a total of nine seconds after Ali signaled to stop the fight. Ali was awarded a technical knockout, winning him the title of Heavyweight Champion Title.

Traditional weighted gloves throughout history dating back to the roman era have used weights around the wrist to increase power. Romans used to fill gloves with metal plates, studs, or spikes to increase punching power and harm opponents. Now modern gloves use a much safer but modified design to help increase power in training. Our gloves take a step further and distribute the weight not only on the wrist, but throughout the whole fist portion too.
Each glove adds around 2 lbs of punching velocity and heavy-handed power. This helps gain strength, better hand protection, and develop amazing hand speed. Although you cant use weighted gloves in actual matches, their benefits are unmatched in the gym and can make sure you are fighting for before you even step into the ring
