A little introduction from James, whose family have been stewards of the land that is now our Oxton natural burial ground for over 500 years.
Today, together with a growing team, James and Helena continue this stewardship across three burial sites around the Midlands.
Perhaps this is why community is such a priority at Tithe Green: because weāve seen what happens when people come together not only to care for each other, but for future generations as well.

You might recognise Chris from his inspiring activism, which has helped to shape environmental action across the UK and beyond, or from Channel 4ās recent documentary, Dirty Business.
Chrisā inspiring talk will explore āintelligent activismā - how we can protect the places that we love and help to shape a more sustainable future.

At Tithe Green, we are forever exploring the relationship between nature and remembrance, grieving, and love. Our workshops, hosted throughout the year, are part of this exploration, inviting people to spend time with us at our burial grounds, where life and death exist in harmony.
Recently, we were joined by the wonderful team from @suttonlodge_flowers_ , who guided us through creating wildflower flay-lays that could be laid atop a grave as a way of honouring a loved one. Attendees could choose to take theirs home - a piece created at our burial ground, perhaps in remembrance of someone no longer here.
The opportunity to gather as a community, to work with nature, to honour the wildlife around us, and to quietly remember someone we miss, is something we are deeply grateful for.
We still have tickets remaining for our Ketton wildflower workshop this Friday. To stay up to date with news and events from Tithe Green, join our private Facebook Community Group or subscribe to our newsletter. Just head to the link in our bio.

This week marks Dying Matters Awareness Week, an annual campaign by @hospice_uk which aims to break the stigma around death, dying and grief.
This yearās theme, āletās talk about death and dyingā is something close to our hearts at Tithe Green. From monthly grief groups in partnership with local therapists to chatting with people on site or on the phone, weāre passionate about helping to create a more open culture in which we are more comfortable talking about death.
Part of this is talking about our own death, and what our wishes are when the time comes. We might not be ready to set a formal plan in place, but even just talking about what we want after we die can go a long way, meaning family and friends arenāt left completely in the dark.

A gorgeous memory mile walk today @tithegreen . The Markfield site was bursting with spring blossoms and all shades of green. It was such a pleasure to spend the morning sharing joy and sadness with a small group of people who were brave enough to share their grief with me. #griefsupport #natureheals
Tracey takes us on a tour of some of the memorial trees you might see at our Tithe Green natural burial sites.
A memorial tree can be a beautiful way of honouring life - a living legacy that family & friends can visit and care for. In our growing woodlands, memorial trees provide vital food and habitats for local wildlife.

Led by Fiona of @daisyworksuk , we gathered in The Keep for an hour of mindful activity, creating hand held wildflower posies.
Rarely do we give ourselves permission to create without the pressure for what we make to be perfect. There is something very healing about working with your hands and enjoying the process as much as the end result.
We still have tickets left for our Wildflower Workshops in Markfield (8th May) and Ketton (15th May). Head to the link in our bio to find out more.

When we are grieving, we might feel as though weāre trying to communicate in a different language. Perhaps we feel there are no words that exist to describe how we are feeling, or that any attempt to try will be inadequate. Even a simple āhow are you?ā can feel impossible to answer, and this can create feelings of distance and isolation.
One thing we could try is a āvirtual scorecardā - a way of communicating how weāre feeling to the people around us without having to translate complex emotions or string together the words we simply canāt find.
When we put a number to how weāre feeling, perhaps from 1-10, it gives the people around us a barometer that might help them understand to what degree weāre able to show up or what support we might need.
Itās also important to note that not only will a rating system be different for everyone, but that we can swing wildly from one end to the other, especially in early grief.
Honouring the very real truth that grief is never linear - that we can be at a 2 one day and at a 7 the next - is as important when we are supporting someone who is grieving as it is when we ourselves are experiencing profound loss.

The story behind the bluebells at Ketton, and Aprilās flower of the month. š±
Ron was a regular visitor to Tithe Green Ketton, coming often to visit his wife, Judith, and always pausing for a chat with our site manager, Emma, if ever he saw her.
An avid gardener, Ron often shared updates about his garden. Several years ago, he asked Emma if sheād like some bluebell bulbs for the site, since he had too many.
Emma gladly accepted his offer, and soon after arrived on site to find an old compost bag full to the brim with bluebell bulbs. She planted them around the burial ground, burying them deep in the earth.
Just under a year ago, Ron sadly died and is now laid to rest at our Ketton site next to Judith.
Two years after being planted, Ronās bluebells have bloomed beautifully and will continue to do so for years to come - an ongoing reminder of his life, and something to be enjoyed not only by his family and friends but by people he never even met, meaning Ronās legacy continues to touch more lives every single year.
His daughter shared some lovely words with us about Ron and his bluebells:
āHeād be chuffed to bits to know that he started the bluebells growing at Ketton with your help planting them for him. He perhaps didnāt realise that they will keep growing forever and delight all those that visit. It makes me so proud to call him my Dad, he was such a thoughtful man and I miss him very much.ā
Thank you Ron for the bluebells at our Ketton site and to his daughter and son for allowing us to share this little story. š¤š±
