Tip bulante (he/they) is a queer artist based in the Occupied Kingdom of Hawaii, on the island of Maui. He has a formal background in illustration and printmaking with a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and incorporates much of his illustrative work in his pottery. His work within pottery began with the Hands in Clay scholarship awarded by Baltimore Clayworks. Drawn to process-based mediums, Tip finds fulfillment in the physical and instinctual process of throwing on the wheel. Tip's work is mostly functional, and is inspired by shapes found within nature and an emphasis on clay body and atmospheric firings. He is currently working as a glaze and firing technician and experimenting with processing materials for glazes.
