The kid on the left and the one in in the middle graduated from college this month. The younger kid in the right graduates in two years.
Where did the time go??
(photo taken 16 years ago today)
The smiles from a surprise birthday party for my little bro Mario yesterday.
These cousins taught me how to love family as a kid, even more so now.
And here’s to a fourth generation of cousins enjoying backyard parties.
My soul is renewed and recharged.
Today’ the day.
Joaquin graduates from University of Colorado Boulder class of 2026.
More pics to come.
(2 more smaller ceremonies)
Congrats mijo!!!
We’re so proud of you.
Hey Fresno peeps, a friend sent me pics of an album of a band from Fresno that he found while crate diving.
He says it’s from around ‘77-‘78.
I had just arrived in ‘76 and I wasn’t old enough to go to bars to hear music or meet musicians.
Anyone remember this band or recognize any of the names??
There is not a lot we can count on these days but one of them is: if Los Lobos are playing, I’ll be there.
First time I saw them was about 1974 or so.
50 plus years and we’re all still going strong.
A quick outdoor festival hit today in Ellicott City with Milagro Azul playing Santana, sporting my newest GD shirt.
🙂
We’ll be at the world famous Ram’s Head this Thursday!
Space geek moment: for the next 40 minutes that space crew is out of communication while they pass the dark side of the moon.
I’m on the couch dealing with an allergy attack today and watching the live feed on the NASA YouTube channel.
That image is taken from a go pro camera on the capsule showing the moon and earth as seen from the crew.
Cue the Pink Floyd track.
So much talent in a variety of traditions.
Great performance tonight in Silver Spring by Mireya Ramos and The Poor Choices playing ranchera country.
Even better with super cool pals.
🙂
Bittersweet, I think is what it’s called.
One final visit to the Kennedy Center last night for a performance by my friends in the Post Classical Ensemble who finished a four year run of sold out shows in the Terrace Theater by announcing their next season in new venues in DC.
It was particularly emotional bc of my history of hosting Jazz Piano Christmas for the last 25 years in the Terrace Theater and seeing so many jazz shows there.
There was an air of defiance among the folks who came out to support the PCE, a hope that the building survives the political moment.
And for me there was never a thought to boycott their final show, a program of anti fascist music of 1920’s Germany.
Much love to my pals Angel Gil-Ordóñez, and his marvelous orchestra, and Merari Hall Fortún
for walking with me through that beautiful main hall one last time.
For now.
Snow storm coming and we’ll be trapped for a while?
It was time for a pre storm visit to the grocery store and my fav used vinyl shop.
Thanks again to Joe's Record Paradise.
